Your cat is lame.

I believe that's all that deserves a response here.

It's better than yours ...

Catra is indisputably 5 million percent cooler than Garfield ever was. Catra is a stylish sympathetic villain character on She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, which is a suspenseful, character-driven action show that IMO constitutes the best ongoing animated work out there today, while Garfield is the star of a waaaaaaaaaaay too long-running string of "comedy" media that lacks, you know, actual jokes. And humor. And good writing. And interesting stories. I's just saying!

I'll break the silence. This old fashioned riding system has no place in modern times.

Quite a difference when every vote has the same weight. Based on actual percentages:
Since the bigger parties benefit from the riding system, it won't change.

LIB 157 vs 112
CON 121 vs 116
BQ 32 vs 26
NDP 24 vs 54
GRN 3 vs 22
OTH 1 vs 3
PPC 0 vs 5

It'd be a fairer system, but the overall overcome of the election would have been pretty much unchanged - the Liberals and NDP would have had 166 seats between them, while the Conservatives and PPC would have only been able to combine for 121 seats (or 147, if for some reason the Bloc actually decided they wanted to work with them).

The real problem that the Conservative Party has right now is that they basically need to win a majority in order to govern, unless the Liberals are being lead by some Michael Ignatieff-type figure who's such an arrogant, incompetent asshole that the other opposition parties actually decide a Conservative minority is the lesser of two evils. It would have helped them if the People's Party had made some kind of breakthrough, but since they completely failed to do so, we're now back in the position of the Liberals having other parties to fall back on in case they don't win a majority, but the same not being true for the Conservatives.

True the Liberals and NDP would still be in power, but the NDP would have had a much bigger say in the coalition. Also the opposition would have a bigger voice, especially the green party which got close to the same votes as BQ yet only 3 seats vs 32!

So while I was right about Scheer being more popular overall, not by a lot though, it didn't turn out like I thought it would. I was focusing too much on the conservative Provincial wave that Canada and many other countries have seen recently, and not the candidates and their specific platforms this time around. While my county voted overwhelmingly conservative, I actually didn't end up voting. While I really dislike Trudeau as a whole, I don't like Scheer either as a person. He comes off as fake and a little stuck up, which I also get from Trudeau. Scheer's messaging certainly wasn't great either. As for Bernier, he's somewhat likable but still comes off as weak in general, and I didn't agree with some of his platform. So it's not all that surprising in the end that Scheer couldn't pull it off.

At least the libs are stuck with a minority, and with the way Singh talks and went after Trudeau, he and his party would look quite hypocritical to cozy up now. It's politics though so being hypocritical won't matter much if Singh thinks backing Trudeau will help him. Typically this situation leads to a lot of bickering and little getting accomplished, which with Trudeau still in power, I'm fine with.

I also find it hilarious that Scheer won the popular vote, yet it's extremely quiet in terms of how he should have won and how Trudeau must be an illegitimate P.M.   lol

That's Canada vs America for you though.

That's a disgrace. GRN (Green?) literally got screwed in that one.

Winner Take All/First Past the Post only works in 2 party systems. You Canadians need to change your electoral system. Why would you want one that doesn't work?

To turn politics into a two party system. USA has more parties as well but it's impossible to gain ground in a first past the post system. Block Quebecois is an exception since it's a one province party. Still BQ would do well with an equal vote system.

The only way to gain some ground is to tackle local politics like BQ. Any country wide political agendas like the green party can't get a foot in the door.

There's always separation... Since QC has kinda taken a break, time for some other province(s) to take a stab at it I guess.

Meh, a second rate villain from a spin-off series doesn't compare to an iconic star like Garfield which transcends beyond time ...

Not needing to remember real plot points means that people will recognize the orange tabby for years to come and that's the sign of a true timeless classic IMO ...

That...was truly desperate, lol.

Hey, have you followed lasagnacat's Garfield comic strip mock-ups on YouTube? They're way funnier than the actual source material and highly recommended if you haven't been! Here's one where he offers an hour-long tribute to the original three-panel Garfield comic strip from 1978. Yes, it's over an hour long. How do you make a tribute to a lame three-panel comic strip that long? Bullshit. A hilarious amount of bullshit.

Call it desperate but unlike Garfield at least he doesn't live and die by a TV show and is under the mercy of Netflix's rating algorithm ...

I give it 5 years tops before Netflix calls it quits for good and then poof just like that everything that's happened in between will forever turn into absolute irrelevancy where nobody will care anymore ...
