Forums - Politics Discussion - Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft issue Joint Statement on potential tariffs on China

Some people here don’t understand that trump is using the tariffs to force chi a to reach a fair trade deal, the problem is not only the slave work, the Chinese have been playing dirty for decades, forcing companies thar produce in China to give up their technology, and then using it with their own products at half the price, and those are just a few examples of what China has been doing. If China is not willing to play fair I think companies should move to India or Vietnam, yes it’s a long process, we the costumers will pay, but how long will the world let the Chinese do as they please?

I'm glad for the tariffs, we have been getting screwed by China for several decades. Maybe the big 3 will make there damn systems in the usa,Japan or somewhere else. And let China know they can go straight to hell

Yeah, China is just ripping us off. How dare they have businesses that we are interested in!?  How dare they sell us stuff that we are perfectly happy buying, those monsters I tell ya!

You fucking nailed it.

This is all happening because Trump hates trade. That's the entire debate, China is not doing anything we should be concerned about, the end.

Far as I know, Our income tax and social security are used, in collusion with ~20 trillion $$ debt to the Federal Reserve, to fund 20 years of murder and invasion of Middle Eastern Lands. I know I can find a better use with my earnings than to give it to which ever mass murderer happens to be in charge of our military.

A vast majority of the debt is not from war.

Also, the "mass murderer that happens to be in charge of our military" is actually trying to stay out of war because its not really popular among voters. So you got the media criticizing him for not going to war therefore colluding with enemies or whatever, while also pushing the narrative that he's gonna get us in another war which people feel is bad. Gotta love the mental gymnastics people play just to attack someone they hate regardless what is actually happening.

Shouldn't just solely trust India or Vietnam either since the former is bound to be influential and the latter is a command economy but since each of them only has half the things that make China a threat I guess it just only makes them half of as bad ...

Should also open production in Indonesia, Philippines but in general we should just target smaller South East Asian countries like Thailand, Myanmar, or Malaysia so that it would be as hard as possible for them to reverse engineer technology ...

I have a feeling that either India or Vietnam could potentially become bitter enemies in a technological war ...

Yes agree, some countries might be humble now, but as soon as they become powerful things might change.

but the whole idea is to find trade parents that play fair, because China clearly doesn’t.

No one is saying to solely trust India or Vietnam.  So let's not turn this into a strawman argument.  This whole principle here is to have several viable options.  No one should feel circumstantially forced to rely on a single source for inexpensive goods whether it's quality or not.  Yes, what is happening with China can happen with India or Vietnam one day.  But it's happening to China NOW so that's what we are dealing with.  If this forces foreign companies in the U.S. and U.S. companies to later become more self-reliant, we all will win by not letting a few countries corner certain economic sectors.

The US tariffs are only a sloppy/dirty way for the struggling US government to justify extra taxes to cover their astronomical financial liabilities. Chinese manufacturing won't take a hit, they have contracts going on for years, and after that, other options. Those who WILL take a hit are the companies who have business based in the US economy; they'll either lower their profit margins or pass the cost onto US consumers.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

But our income tax and social security are used get loans from the federal reserve, which have been used to kill 1,000,000 middle easterners in just 20 years. Among other things.

The media are the worst propaganda just by how amazingly successful they are at making voters believe the worst lies and support the worst policies. This is what we got.  🤷‍♂️
