I would be willing to spend around £500-£600 on a PS5, as we all know it's coming I've already started to save up for it, people seem to have no problem sinking £1300+ into an iPhone xs max which will be outdated within 12 months, we all know consoles in general last 6 years minimum before the need to replace, I would be willing to pay more if it meant getting better specs, what would you be willing to pay?

There is already a thread about this

"Quagmire, are you the type of guy who takes 'no' for an answer ?"
"My lawyer doesn't allow me to answer that question"

PSN ID: skmblake | Feel free to add me

£400 is my max for a new console.

"Wheel me out to the curb for garbage day"

I would be willing to pay 599 if the spec is good.

There is a thread for it. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=239912&page=1#

I have a bit of a problem at 450 euro but would still buy it at that, probably even though I think I'll be waiting a few months regardless as I feel there is going to be a massive Sony mishap right here, this gen boot. I would prefer 400 euro however. If it's 500, count be out til a price drop. They should take a hit on it to get it out at 400 as we all know that the money is in the software and subscriptions. 400 is the perfect price and if they have went with tech that exceeds that perfect juicy price point, that's on them. They'll have a stunted launch which will bleed into a slower gen overall and another ps3 situation while taking a hit on the money machine that is the software and subscriptions. And if you are willing to pay 600 pound (700 euro) for a gaming console then you are an imbecile and need to get your prioites in check. You could be a pro and a PSVR for thst price right now or a PRO, a switch and a used Xbox 1. Idiocy at 600-700 euro and a clear way for them to shoot themselves massively in the foot...again.

Also, people get phones on contract. I would not have paid a grand for my phone, if it wasn't 99 euro on my phone and internet contract I would not have it. If I had not had need of the contract, I'd do with my 20 euro secondary phone modeled after the Nokia 3210 and my thumbs and eyes would be thankful for it. No normal bloke or lass is spending anywhere near 1k on a phone and likely the majority of people manage a contract for a free phone and take the hit for a slightly more outdated or mid tier handset.

Maybe that's the way forward, contract consoles if you can't buy outright

A console and a phone are very different but it is the value of the subscription here thst is the issue that would make this fail, an internet contract is a need these days. I would rather own my console at a reasonable price point than pay for one more subscription I don't need, they tried leasing consoles and computer hardware in the 90's, it didn't work. It may work in the 20's but the vast amount of console gamers will reject it and it will cause people who do reject it to scoff at the RRP of the console. That kind of decisiveness is something they don't want to get anywhere close to until well into a gen but not this close to the start of a new gen. Everything they do right now, needs to be perfect, it decides the next 6 or 7 years and they have the perfect road map already created. They just need to follow it again and it's not at 600-700 euro or anywhere over 500.

I see q lot of threads online, I can't tell if it's meat bots, console war soldiers or genuine people, pushing for console prices to be 600 euro and cementing that as something that is okay. Not accusing you here, I'm sure you feel this way and are genuine but some of this has to be meat bots pushing for these insane prices so that people will feel that 500 or 550 is a reasonable price, when it is not. It's a shit price.

I read somewhere that most people can't even fund a 300 euro emergeny cost, be it a replacement fridge or a hospital stay. Having this happen to me more than once I my early 20's I make sure to stay well above that now and have some no st on top for leisure but no matter how much money I have at hand or how inflation has changed over the last 12 years, 400 always seems to be the best amount for any tech item. I would imagine that most people feel the same by the insane selling power of the ps4 out the gate yet I would be willing to bet they could stake the same claim on 449 because of inflation.

You may spend that much, the majority of the British public will not. Same silly phone comparison, one is done on contracts giving the illusion that they are not paying that much in an instant situation. Secondly phone are shamefully needed more than a games console, they compliment work etc as well as keeping in complete communication to those who matter.

In that respect, MS are clever enough to offer two models. (Assuming it's true)

I think the sweetspot for the next gen in terms of power/features vs costs will be 500€/$, which is also the most I'm willing to pay.
