Would be a big dent in Sony's wallet but with protential to make it back in the long run.
If gamers prefer to see games locked behind PS than this is exciting news. For me, i was never a fan of Take Two but i am sure alot of gamers outside the PS eco system will be shocked and not in a good way

I'm wondering if when you say you're not a fan of Take-Two, you actually mean Rockstar? The list of games Take-Two has published is pretty massive, and has some pretty well like franchises outside of the R* stuff.

I hope this happens, so NBA 2K goes PS/PC-only.

Imagine a game with "sony interactive entertainment presents" and then rockstar games logo appearing on screen.
Gives me chills just thinking about it.

But then again , i don't see this being true.
If it is , then i would be pleasently surprised.

Imagine seeing that on your next gen XB. How would MS be able to say no to those franchises on their platform? Can you imagine the outrage by their customers? While PS could keep them entirely exclusive, if they have to pay an arm and a leg for Take Two, why not profit off the competition to help pay it off, while spreading the PS brand and using those specific Take Two titles as marketing themselves? What better way to easily and directly show your competitors customers what kind of gaming experience PS offers? Both will draw some players to the PS ecosystem, but which one is overall the better choice is hard to say.

Well if SNY hasn't made the deal yet then that statement wouldn't be false, because technically they wouldn't really know if the deal will close or not for sure.

There "may be truth" that SNY could potentially acquire Take Two.

Sony couldnt afford it anyways. Playstation was the only thing keeping them afloat just a few years ago, no way they'd make that big a purchase.

Sony can afford it and this will exactly reinforce your point,PlayStation is whats Sony's biggest product nowadays and they need a big exclusive like GTA to fend off competition

Even if GTA6 sold 50 million at $60 pure profit, that only coves $3 Billion, which is nowhere near what T2 is going to tell their company for. And who knows when GT6 will even release.

but remember,it will sell 50million PS5's also,it could easily take PS5 to PS2's numbers both in hardware where PS2 sold 158million consoles and 1.7billion in software sales

If Sony does go for them then that is obviously good for Sony, but an additional 15 studios around the world and 4000+ employees is not going to be an easy thing to oversee when they themselves in in a position of change to deal with what the next gen of gaming competition has in store.

Sony's is managing studios pretty nicely and competition is exactly why GTA will be a great buy

If it is an easy buy for them then yeah, but I doubt it is right at this point

Shh

We need more reaction threads to come from this "rumor".

I thought as much. Just how much money would Sony realistically need to buy T2 whole? Do they have that kind of money?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Mainly both. Borderlands, GTA, Red Dead, etc dont really interest me however i know there huge IPs and are great assets to own.

Japanese companies are flooded with money, they can borrow very cheaply from Japanese banks. 10billion is hefty though... For all the benefits with GTA/RedDead/and etc... reinforcing the Playstation brand, 10 billion is still hefty.
