It varies a lot from year to year. On software I probably average ~$500 a year. Hardware there been years I spent many 1000's and others I had very little I wanted to upgrade. There also a lot of overlap between what I spend on my computer for other stuff vs specifically for gaming.

I spent a lot on computer/network equipment last year but nothing to do with gaming. Last major purchases for gaming was back in 2016 for a HTC Vive and a geforce 1080. Usually I upgrade GPU every 3 years which would be this year but I might wait till next year because I have many many other things to buy because am going to settle on my first house very soon.

I do Application and Database development for a living which pays in the low 6 figures.

Hot damn, so you're pretty big on Collector's Editions then. I can't think of the last time I bought a major CE for a game. Sometimes I'll want a strategy guide or a nice map to go along with it, but I'm usually not interested in the figurines, t-shirts, etcetera. 

So for me, I think the "most expensive" game I'll be getting will be Pokemon Sword & Shield, as I'll likely be buying a second Switch and both versions of the game, as well as the strategy guide. That way I can play with my wife and daughter.

Side note: Do you have a YouTube channel, or have you been in other peoples' videos? For some reason I feel as though I've heard your name mentioned in a MetalJesusRocks video or one of the people he collabs with, if you even know who I'm talking about.

Up until six years ago, which is when I sold off the bulk of my total collection, I would typically set aside anywhere between $80-120 a paycheck to put towards my collection. During the Christmas overtime season, I would up it to $150-180, and that was usually when I would usually splurge on the rare games.

Now? Eh, maybe about $60 or so a month, and it's usually towards digital titles, or games that I want that have lowered in price. I'm limited by the confines of an apartment now, so having a game room is impractical. That is one thing about digital gaming that I do appreciate: it allows me to still fill that void.

Not very much, maybe between $150-$200. I hardly have the time to play videogames (work, MBA, gym. social life, etc.), so my gaming spending has been greatly reduced. By the time I buy the games I want to play, they are either very cheap or were available for free on PS Plus at some point.

I wish I could be more organized with my money. You budget yourself really well by the looks of it. What's your secret?

I make good money but due to my spending habits not much of it gets put away. I also have a very expensive cost of living what with medical bills and children, and I live in an area that is fairly expensive (my 2 bedroom apartment costs more than $1450 per month, if I recall). Next month I'll be making my final payment towards my daughter's pre school, which has costed us $400 per month for the last two years. After that she'll be going to public school, which is so cheap it's not even funny. Freeing up $400 each month is going to be so freaking nice.

I do not want to think about it...

and yeah I love collectors edtiions thats why I'm looking forward to seeing what collectors we might get with second half of the year releases. April i got the MK 11 collectors ordered too. so that will make a huge increase to my yearly spending, then July I have FE collectors ordered xD
