2019 was a peak year for me in gaming and my true return to form ever since i started gaming less an less after 2013! Its only matched by 2010 when i had the PS3 and got really addicted to playing for hours almost every day! Fun times.

The games i've finished this year are:

Rise of The Tomb Raider
Spyro The Dragon
Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!
Spyro 3: Year of The Dragon
God of War
inFAMOUS Second Son
The Order 1886
Resident Evil 7
Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power
Uncharted: Lost Legacy
Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped

And now in the process of playing and finishing Detroit: Become Human.

I'm done with work in a week so I'll have tons of time to finish off a few games. I think my focus is going to be Gears 5 and Metro Exodus. That will bring me to 20 games. I think I'll also try to fit Nier Automata's two other play-throughs into my break and continue with Dragon Quest 11. I don't think I'll be able to get more than 22 games done by the end of the year.

I hope to get three more games before January 1st just so I can get that coveted mediocrity of two games per fortnight and i completely didn't spell that fornite before I caught myself, completely didn't at all. And screw it, might as well update my list. Two more games, Jedi Fallen Order and A plague tale innocence. Fallen Order was enjoyable but shoddy and became a better game far, far to late. A Plague tale was also enjoyable and good for what it was but suffered the same problem as Hellblade which went on to long for it's repetitive gameplay, I had to drop them for a long break of a couple months before i was able to come back with a renewed interest, both of these games would have been far better had they cut three hours if they didn't have the resources to throw some more stuff in there to mix it up enough to hold attention.

Titanfall 2 comes out on PS+ tomorrow which I'm actually excited for and I've created a folder for the PS+ games I slept on and started downloading, there is some decent looking stuff in there but nothing that looks truly great, perhaps Mad Max will get the cut or that Batman game, maybe Darksiders 3. I still have the Outer worlds to beat but that is looking less and less likely as I need a longer break from it and I can't get back into open world games like that months apart unless it has a journal system like cRPG's and the CoD Platinum but next I think i'll just mindlessly play through the rest of Ace Attorney: JFA or fully step into Judgement. And there goes my gaming diary for the month.

6 weeks on from my last update - I've cleared a few short games in that time: Hellblade, Gears 5, Turok 2, Luigi's Mansion 3, Katana Zero and Gorogoa. I'm currently playing Civilization VI, which I picked up in the Switch sales, and will likely go back on Mario Maker 2 when the update drops. Now I think about it I also bought and finished the Sega Ages version of Sonic the Hedgehog, so that goes in the 'Finished' pile.

I'm hoping to get through a few more short games before I make my last purchases of 2019 later this month: Pokemon Shield and Dragon Quest XI. I might manage to finish Shield before the end of the year, but I expect DQXI will take me into 2020. I definitely won't have cleared my backlog by then! The Messenger has been added to my backlog since my last update.

Finished:
- Gris
- Blossom Tales
- Hyper Light Drifter
- Banner Saga 1

- Pokemon Let's Go Eevee

Stalled:
- Dark Souls Remastered (25 hours) I hit Ornstein and Smough.
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Master Mode (20 hours)

  24. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz (NS) (1.5 hours)
  25. Pokemon Sword (95 hours)
  26. Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (NS) (30 hours)

Started, but lost interest and quit:

  • Xenoblade 2 (NS) (4 hours)
  • Final Fantasy VII (NS) (3 hours)
  • Yoshi's Craft World (NS) (3 hours)
  • Quest of Dungeons (NS) (10 minutes)
  • Final Fantasy X-2 (NS) (6 hours)
  • Hollow Knight (NS) (1 hour)
  • Astral Chain (21 hours)
  • Dragon Quest Heroes II (NS) (25 hours)
  • Cuphead (NS) (15 hours)

I've played a fair bit over the past month:

Shifted Astral Chain, DQH2 and Cuphead to the abandoned list. I honestly can't see myself picking any of them up again this year, even if I did it would be under new files.

I put another 30 hours into DQ11's post-game, could have got more - it's easily one of the best games I've ever played. Such a fantastic experience from start to finish.

I completed SMB: Banana Blitz in 1.5 hours (every world) - I ended up returning the game to the store because that's ridiculous; I would have kept it if the mini games were as infinitely replayable as in 1 and 2, but they're of course not.

I poured a lot more time than I thought I would in to Pokemon Sword - the game itself is very average, but the wild area is a great template for future entries (too bad it'll probably be left behind for 'uniqueness').

I'm 18 hours into Ni No Kuni atm and loving it. Only thing I'm hating is Oliver's VA, but literally everything else is fantastic.

Edit: Completed Ni No Kuni after 30 hours. Great game, I loved practically everything, only thing is that it felt very grindy with the lategame difficulty spike. No other complaints though, an incredible game.

I think I'm close to beating ashen but the difficulty just ramped up something fierce from what it was. That makes 25 games and one shy of the 26 I wanted to achieve, hopefully I can find something to fit in the week between Xmas and New years. That Goose game looks good.

Well, I guess this is it for the year, I completed Titanfall 2 and The Goose game which both were short and very sweet. I'm half way through Ashen and The Outer worlds but I've no interest in continuing the latter and most likely won't finish the latter unless I bother to grind out some weapon upgrades as that shit got hard really quickly so i guess i'll leave at this for the year. Unless I fall into something over the next 5 days and I just found out i didn't actually beat The Messenger and the whole meta game after the ending is actually still the game to be completed for a true ending but so I'm marking that off. Guess I'm still one short of the 26 I wanted but it'll do. Gaming journal, 2019 AD, end. Fin. Cease. Finale. All done. Good year.
