It's a very enjoying Christmas movie... but the best? Nah!

Yeeaaaah. Christmas Vacation is a fav of mine. At least it was. Haven't watched it in probably over a decade.

OP: Phil Hartman is in JATW, and I think I remember hearing he was good in it, so that helps. At the time of it's release I lustily rejected it, but now this post, along with the Cinemassacre vid that was recently uploaded has me kinda almost wanting to think about maybe trying to try watching it.

Yes, he is great in JATW, but.. I just learned that he was killed by his drug addict wife in 1998, yikes.

National Lampoon's Christmas vacation is my top seed as well

It's an awful movie as far as I'm concerned, but that's what makes it so fun. It's awful in the best possible way, but calling it good is a massive stretch. I enjoy watching it from time to time, but that's entirely because it's so bad that it comes back around to being funny.

I think what you are trying to say is that you are too snob to admit that it's a great comedy. It's ok, nobody here will judge you for liking this silly movie.

Yeah, I like it, but not because it's a good movie. It's the same reason why I like other movies like Street Fighter with Jean Claude Van Damme or Dungeons & Dragons. Because they are so bad that they become funny by accident.

It was pretty big news in Canada and the US, so I was well aware the day it happened. Was a fan since around 89', but IMO he really hit his stride in Newsradio.

Nope, Die Hard is!

That's the best movie set during Christmas, but it has little to do with the meaning of Christmas... capitalism!

Jingle All the Way ranks high for me, its just a fun movie.

I love this movie. It's definitely high up there in the top 3 Christmas movies for me. The concept is brilliant and kinda timeless as well.
