Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony will not be at E3 2019 for the first time!!!

I couldn't agree less with this decision. It feels they are again showing some of the arrogance levels that they shown during the PS3 early days. I really hope I'm wrong on this one.

Honestly, it would be more arrogant to hold a conference like last year than to not hold a conference at all.

IMO it's a smart strategy, saving all the announcements, and firing all the cylinders at once, probably PSX 2019.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Nintendo directs suck ass. STOP IT SONY! You must be at E3. But it's clear they aren't doing this suicidal move on a console launch year. PS5 2020 confirmed.

I agree. Whatever they want to do, just don't go Nintendo direct path. Directs may work, but it's just feels like cheap garage stuff.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

IMO this points that PS5 could be launch during March 2020.

I think so too, and I actually hope thats the outcome.

Nintendo showed it works (with the switch), that launching earlier on in the year to fix the initial insane sales works just as well,
and that this way you dont *waste* your first holiday's sales effect.

Yeah, but not just that, its obvious that games like TLoU 2, Ghosts of Tsushima and Death Stranding will be cross gen games and hardly will be launch before PS5 launch, so I have hart time believing we will wait another 2 full years, but with launch in March 2020. all makes much more sense.

Whoever thinks that the industry doesn't need e3 because you can release games and hardware outside it and make money, is missing the point.

e3 has become the sort of festive season for gamers. It's where bunches of trailers come out, announcements, discussions, live stuff, people take days off work to watch or to play the releases, people take vacation to fly to LA at least once in a lifetime, it's all this sort of thing. it's festive. it's hyped.

of course there's youtube and hardware can be released on twitter or snapchat or whatever and get 9999999999 views. e3 is 2 decades event that goes beyond that, and the leader of this gen is stepping out. sony will still be successful but i still think it stinks.

God bless You.

What makes you think that? All those games will be out 2020 latest. Death Stranding is finished already and their only polishing now. I absolutely don't believe they'll release them after PS5 has released already, no chance in hell imho. They sure will want us to double dip.

Sooo i guess this website is wrong??? I see every week marking PS4 sales worldwide as over 200k and it outsells the switch in territory except Japan. Don't get ahead of yourself with defensive tones while being wrong.

I read it wrong, weekly world wide, yes, not in each territory. I edited my post lol. Still, what does sales have to do with winning E3? like...what? And still, Switch hass been doing 200K weekly as well....without games like RDR2, Spiderman, etc.

"Winning" E3 is pretty pointless that far in the gen. Microsoft "won" E3 this year, according to the majority. Has it helped them in any way concerning sales? Has the incredibly lacklustre show of Nintendo damaged their reputation? No. They'll make up for with other announcements and events through the year.
Btw Layden has even officially stated that they don't want to disappoint people with a lacklustre show. They kind of did last time already and imho it's understandable they want to keep some announcements for their big anniversary in December.

So because thats how the launched the PS4 it means thats hat they are going to do again?

We know this much. They have cancelled E3 next year. Tht completely takes a fabuary 2019 reveal of the PS5 off the cards or a possible 2019 launch of the PS5.

We also know that 2019 would make their 25th anniversary. Whats the single biggest thing you think they can announce at a PSX 2019 event? Another limited edition console? No.

7nm fabrication is going into full swing next year, which means whatever is going to be in the PS5 can and will be finalized next year.

These all point to a PSX 2019 announcement of the PS5 along with the announcement of certain games already anounced fr the PS4 to be launced  alongside the new console by march 2020.

This not only allows sony to launch the console with a good number of games but als at a higher price of $499. And the have its first unofficial price drop just a few months later in its first holiday season if demand for their isnt as hot at that higher price point.

$500 console launches usually end up horribly.  See PS3 and XBoxOne.  The PS3 took the entire gen to inch into 2nd place, and the Xbox One never really recovered.  Anything over $399 will not find mass adoption.  If PS5 were to launch at $499, all Microsoft would have to do is release the next Xbox at $399, and they would instantly regain their lost 360 marketshare.

Considering this is the first gen with mid gen consoles still selling at 400 or more, it feels highly likely they both will for go for 500 next time imho.

It's the absolute opposite if the even state that they don't want to disappoint their fans because they feel they don't have enough new stuff to show.

The incompleteness of your assertion aside. How will Microsoft do it? The XbonX still costs 400+. What hardware will they have at that certain time of launch that allows them to offer it at a 399, one up their previous hardware significantly?

Hunting Season is done...

It is not a "stupid" move as I've seen a few people say. The Playstation franchise is so strong that I think they feel that they've reached a point where E3 isn't the best way to expand their brand. The competition is fierce at this event and by having their own event they can go all out and get the maximum exposure in all of the relevant media. I mean, an announcment or new from E3 gets flooded so fast by other news and announcment, with a few exceptions. I think it is a smart move.

I think people who see the PS5 release as being as far off as end of 2020 are just crazy. That's over two years from now. What do you expect Sony to do for the next year and a half, just keep showing new trailers of years-old announced PS4 games? While Microsoft and Nintendo continue having events and announcing new stuff, you just expect Sony to sit back with some vague promise of a future PS5 announcement for the next two years?

At the latest, the PS5 should be unveiled during summer 2019 for a release either holiday 2019 or early 2020. I'm still hoping they'll opt for late 2019.

Agreed.  If anything, all of this points to a 2019 launch.  Early 2020 at the latest.  Sony isn't going to have a quiet 2019, while the Switch and XBO get all the press.  My guess is a early or mid 2019 announcement, with maybe a tour to show off what the system can do.  I think the point Sony is making by not being at E3 is that there are much cheaper, easier ways to bring their announcements to the world.  Streams and trailers that get millions of views.  Their own events that they can put on and completely control.  It's not like the gaming press is going to ignore them if they aren't at E3.

What a laugh. Pretty sad to see the spiral that Sony seems to be content going down. What is this company.

Microsoft currently in an all hands meeting to amp up their E3. How do you miss the biggest event in videos games....

Must be a damn good spiral to go down.  Going to outsell MS by ~2.5:1 when all is said and done.  And it seems like they are getting a head start on next gen if these rumors are true.

Actions taken now reflect what will happen next generation. The return of arrogant Sony will not effect what has already happen, but opens a door of opportunity for either.

MS has never missed an E3. Nintendo missed around 4 of them.

No wonder XB1 is killing nintendo with regards to sal......... wait.

Nintendo missed E3 during the Wii U. They returned before Switch launched. What's your point?

They won this gen, winning E3 means nothing to them, for now.

I believe they still had a booth or some physical presence at E3. I don't think Sony has a booth at all. So it's less than what Nintendo has done before.
