Had they shown a trailer, or at least a bigger teaser, of Prime 4 and Bayo 3 while cutting off half of the Smash content (mostly useless and better suited for Treehouse or another kind of presentation), it would have been a very good Direct. Sadly, they haven't and the end result felt too long and boring.

At least they showed some interesting games/ports that will keep Switch owners entertained.

6.0/10

For June and July for sure. August if you have a backlog. From September onwards we don't exactly have a very clear release schedule. Even the SplatDLC doesn't have a release date.

They need another Direct as soon as possible and announce more games.

Did they give release dates for all those indie games shown? Some of them were so fast that I couldn't see it.

In any case, there's also Gamescom, where they can (but most likely won't) reveal new games.

Please excuse my bad English.

Haven't finished it yet, but why does Fire emblem look like a 3ds game?

Good question

It's possible Fire Emblem was part of that plan and was delayed.

Pokemon, Smash, and Yokai should ensure a very healthy year though.  This wasn't catastrophic like some people are acting like.  Set aside personal taste and Nintendo still has some significant releases coming at the right times this year.

This thread is all about personal taste. Setting it aside would miss the point.

The reply was in reference to sales potential.  I meant that from a sales and business perspective, Nintendo still has some very heavy hitters at key moments this year.

I give it a 6. What was shown was solid, but it needed something extra.
Smash looks fantastic, I was correct about it being a new game

10/10 for me because all I wanted to see was Fire Emblem and I was blown away. Smash looks amazing too.

With the fact that nothing major was revealed, it was kinda like the 2015 direct. We did get our first looks at Fire Emblem and Smash, but they weren't revealed here.

Daemon x Machina was revealed as was a Mario Party that DOESN'T look like hot garbage :P

And they did have some 3rd party surprises...before leaks screwed them over.

Not the most exciting E3, I agree, but still solid.

Monolith Soft should sue Daemon x Machina developer. Skells much? Lol.

Guess I should consider myself lucky I didn't watch it?

3/10

Overcooked 2 and Mario Party kinda saved the thing for me. But it was still pretty bad overall. Especially if you're not a huge fan of Smash Bros.

Well the hyperbole from those who liked it and those who didn't should make this forum as toxic as it has ever been.

Imo, 7/10. It was pretty good. Similar issue to Sony. Relatively few announcements even though those announcements look good. Mostly info on what we know, but it all looks good. Fire Emblem looks phenomenal but got delayed, which sucks. Smash looks great. The new mech game was kickass. The Xenoblade DLC looks PHENOMENAL and way bigger than I thought coming way sooner as well.

I think they made a presentation mistake not giving the third party announcements more space. Yeah the leak spoiled most of them, but the direct would have been better.

This E3 is unusual. Sony and Nintendo I hold mostly even and MS won. But MS got that win by stacking their presentation with 2019 and later titles. Nintendo said 2018 focus and meant it, leaving 2019 focus for a later date. I think they could have included some more 2019 stuff to smooth it over though. Perhaps a sizzle reel with an announcement for when the 2019 presentation they teased will be so people aren't left hanging.

I think 2018 is perfectly fine, just not as strong as 17. Which isn't shocking to me.

It would've been nice to have a little more for 2019, but I think this year is still pretty good and Smash Bros. more than delivers for me personally. That new Daemon IP looks interesting and I'm looking forward to FE Three Houses. Fornite and DBFZ are in my sights as well.

Plus, they will show more in future directs. I know its not a popular thing to say, but Nintendo wants to create their message their own way and will show more when they are ready.

Yes, but you do have to live in a world where it happened though.
