Sony needs more studios for PS5. and it has nothing to do with competition.

I agree. They need to make studios for franchises like Twisted Metal, Wipeout, Ape Escape and more 'gamey' stuff. They can't just close every studio that doesn't make 3rd person cinematic games.

Sony has

ND-SPP-Bend-GG-Japan-MM-Poly-SanDiego-SSM.

+ London Studio

+ Noth West Studio

+ Pixel Opus

(+ XDev ? - ok, they don't create games by themselves but assist dev in Playstation exclusive games)

They also basically own QD and Bluepoint at this point. Also Sony works a lot with Insomniac games. Which will probably stick with Sony for a while now that their solo projects comercially flopped. But I am defenitely on board for either new or bigger studio's.

How about we all stop expecting photo realism and start focusing on just great, original and innovate games again? That would solve just about everything.

Or we can have both, as Detroit and God of War just proved.

God of War is many things but its not really a game that has done many new things. It just combines a lot of genres and does execute all of them very well. If you want innovation you should look at Dreams. Though Detroit did some new and innovative things.

I didn't say God of War was innovative. It didn't need to be. I argued that we got a fantastic game with some of the highest quality visuals ever produced.

I would like more studios, but Sony doesn't really need it.

Sony are already doing all 4 of those.

they are not doing all 4. all of their first party games are 3rd person action adventure games

I guess Gran Turismo was classified wrong for 4 generations then.

Fair enough for some reason people still think great graphics somehow result in lesser gameplay. Even though many of the best looking games on PS4 are also among the best games on PS4. Great visuals can only make a good or great game better. A game that sucks to begin with does not have a lot of benefit from good visuals.

Both of those studios just shot their loads and are done until next generation. How is that a good thing?

I don't see what that has to do with what I said. I responded to:
