Now that Sony has laid all their cards on the table, I don't know what to think about this. I'll still watch it regardless, but I have this feeling that people will deem it a bad conference beforehand because there's no surprise or expectation or hype behind it. Here's hoping they mislead everyone and gives us some surprises. But with PS4 being at the final phase I doubt there will be anything mindblowing coming.

I don't understand anyone who thinks this. All Sony has done is advertise their E3 with 4 major cinematic games, especially after the success of GoW.

SM was always going to be at E3. TloU2 was already said to appear. DS was hinted at. GoT... Sure this could have not shown.

There will be other Sony games. Other 3rd party games. Other Indies.

Nothing has changed except advertising beforehand.

I tend to agree with his lack of hype on this one.

Sony did the same for PSX last year by announcing a more in depth look at some titles with a more casual discussion around it. Then everyone complained it sucked, but to be fair, they did warn.

Now for E3 they have done exactly the same. I know that usually I would wake up at 3am every year to watch the conference, but this year for the first time in a long time I'll just sleep through it and read the news in the morning.

I am plenty excited for Shadows die twice (BB2?) and whatever other 3rd parties will appear, but not staying up to watch a couch conversation about the mechanics of LoU2

Well no, its not the same. Was it disappointing? sure, but they never said it was going to be a conference. In fact the presentation was advertised as an addition to having a ticket, rather than previously when it was advertised as its own thing.

E3 isnt only for fans... many ppl seem to forget this. Its conferences that are designed for journalists too. Sony isnt going to have some casual discussion for the biggest marketing event of the year.

If they do then shame on them but after the reception PSX17 got, Im surprised anyone thinks its going to be similar. PSX is different... its a fan orientated event so the change in their presentation was something they gambled would work. Are you expecting Ubisoft to also have this casual talk even though they have also announced the games you can expect to see at their event?

But maybe Im wrong.

Sony themselves said they are going to mostly focus on those 4 exclusives with in depth details on them.

Nothinf wrong with that in of itself as I'm quite excited for all of those games. But I know I will buy them, so I can pretty much skip this.

Sure, they will present some 3rd party titles as well, but the way they played it down really seems to indicate no big surprises are coming. My only focus on that will be whatever From Software will show, but again, I already know it's coming.

So yeah, a bit dehyped as I don't expecf big announcements as well as no hardware talks will happen

So where did they said it will "mostly" focus on these 4 games? Or that they downplayed 3rd party games?

They already confirmed indies, and 3rd party announcements. Its not any different than previous events except they told you what their focus games are. There are always focus games at each of their E3 events.

in 2016, it was God of War, Horizon and Days Gone. In 2017 it was Days Gone and Spiderman. To a lesser extent, both GoW and Detroit.

on the playstation blog podcast straight from Shawn Layden

if they had a change of plans after the reaction, that's great, but the first news after Shawn's comments made it seem like a bit of a repeat of the PSX format.

Have you actually listened to the podcast?

Cause at no point do that say its mostly those 4 games nor did they downplay 3rd party titles. Shawn Layden explicitly states that there will be announcements from 3rd party publishers and from indies. The PSBlog says the same thing;

https://blog.us.playstation.com/2018/05/11/playstation-at-e3-2018-the-journey-begins-june-11-at-600pm-pacific/

There's a limited amount of time for the conference itself, usually 90 minutes or less.

There's also a lot of confirmed things that will be shown (in depth into the 4 announced exclusives) and some confirmed not to be shown or discussed (like any forms of new hardware)

No one is going to get hyped by indie announcements.

Now that leaves some 3rd party announcements which have pretty much been spoiled in the last few weeks by certain retailers and other sources (RE2, Beyond Good and Evil 2, Splinter Cell, DMC5, etc). This leaves very little room for big surprises.

So yeah, as I originally stated, nothing worth losing sleep over (literally in my case). Will be pretty much ok to watch the new trailers on the next day.

So basically you just spouted misinformation about the conference itself and are now falling back on pure speculation?

Sure maybe your speculation is accurate, (and opinions are justified within themselves because they are that, opinions) but don't pass some of it off as fact when it isn't

What the hell are you on about? What misinformation are you talking about exactly?

And yes, of course there's speculation in every comment here, it's called giving an opinion on the known facts. I'm more than happy to be proved wrong once the conference is finished.

I don't understand where you get off pointing at my opinions on what is supposed to happen (in the future, mind you) as facts. Future events by their own nature are always bound in a layer of uncertainty.

I guess it's not gonna be like the last couple of years in number of announcements because PS4 is beginning it's long end of life process. I can't expect as many announcements as we had two years ago, but I'm still hyped though.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

There were three ravens sat on a tree / They were as blacke as they might be / The one of them said to his mate, Where shall we our breakfast take?

Please get excited.
