Premier League winner?
Yup, Dortmund isn't up to the task.
That sucks, too, but I was referring to that moment in the Liverpool game today which pretty much ended any hope of pulling the comeback on Barcelona, and almost ended our Premier League hopes too. It's been a sad week for Liverpool fans, really... we don't deserve this. Or at least I don't, I hope.
Oh well, I guess there's always next year...
I just read about the closest Bundesliga finishes and the most amazing one happened in the season 1977/78. Cologne and Gladbach had the same amount of points before the final matchday, but Cologne's goal difference was 10 goals better. Gladbach did the seemingly impossible and beat Dortmund 12-0, but Cologne won the title anyway because they achieved a 5-0 on their own.
Moral of the story: Dortmund sucked back then and still sucks today. 2-4 vs. Schalke last week, 2-2 after a 2-0 lead vs. Bremen this week. I wish Bremen had won in the end, because the draw isn't good enough for them; 47 points don't cut it when all of their competitors have 51+ points with only two games left to go.
Well that's that then. No Champions League for Utd next year. They won't even be in the running for a place on the final day, pretty embarrassing really.Last edited by Ka-pi96 - on 05 May 2019
Bet Shiken that COD would outsell Battlefield in 2018. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8749702

Didn't they have Mourinho as coach?
Didn't they have Mourinho as coach?
They did, and after that they had Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. They should be congratulated for their achievements this season.
Bundesliga - Matchday 32
Mainz 3-3 Leipzig
Bayern 3-1 Hannover
Gladbach 2-2 Hoffenheim
Berlin 3-1 Stuttgart
Wolfsburg 2-0 Nürnberg
Bremen 2-2 Dortmund
Schalke 0-0 Augsburg
Freiburg 1-1 Düsseldorf
Leverkusen 6-1 Frankfurt
Title Race - Bayern did their job, but Dortmund stumbled again. Bayern only needs 2 points in their 2 remaining games against Leipzig and Frankfurt which shouldn't be too hard, nevermind that it's uncertain if Dortmund is even capable of winning their own 2 games against Düsseldorf and Gladbach, because their performance in calendar year 2019 has been mixed all along.
International Spots - Leverkusen impressed in the game of the week and slaughtered Frankfurt within 36 minutes, because at that point the score was already 6-1; the clear win provides big implications for both points and goal difference for the teams ranked 4th through 8th. Bremen is essentially done for, because ruining the season for Dortmund didn't save their own. Wolfsburg played a very weak game against a Nürnberg team that didn't look like they want to avoid relegation. The direct matchup between Gladbach and Hoffenheim summed up Hoffenheim's season, because no other team in the league wastes so many great scoring opportunities; the question everyone asked was how Hoffenheim wasn't up at least 5-0 after 70 minutes and so Gladbach lucked their way to a draw in a game where they couldn't have complained if they had lost by 6 goals.
Relegation - The three teams at the bottom all lost their games, but Stuttgart will be able to celebrate because Nürnberg and Hannover are running out of games as the season comes to a close. Only mathematical chances remain, so it's essentially settled that Stuttgart will play the relegation playoff while Nürnberg and Hannover can plan for the 2. Bundesliga.
Highlights of matchday 33 - Leipzig vs. Bayern serves as a test for Leipzig if they will be able to win the DFB Cup against Bayern at the end of the season. Beyond that, the schedule is about as uninteresting as it can possibly be. Hoffenheim vs. Bremen would have been exciting if Bremen hadn't left so many points on the table recently.
Fun fact - Gladbach won their first 9 home games this season, but hasn't won any of the most recent 7. Their final home game is against Dortmund, so the two Borussias of the Bundesliga will face each other in the Cup of Disappointment.

Seriously, I can't believe how bad the 3rd to 6th has been. All 4 teams just fell apart at the end of the season it seems, none showing any desire they want champions league. So much for a final day playoff.
