Could some moderator move this to the music section of the forums? Since there is one, might as well, right?

Thats actually an incredibly immature response,  im surprised, your profile says you're 26. Enlighten us, when does music become old timey, what timeframe?

Before I was born = old timey.

Although to be fair the 90s was actually pretty crappy music wise as well. Thankfully 2000 onwards was great.

Dude. The 2000s were dramatically terrible.

There is some good rock in the 2000's. Alter Bridge, Seether, Three Days Grace, Staind, Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, Tantric, etc. I certainly can't defend what he's saying about older music though. The 90's had plenty of great Rock; The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Offspring, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Tool, Days of the New, Creed, etc. And of course the earlier decades have some great Rock.

Partially. But also because they were bad. I mean, I'd rather watch a film by Uwe Boll than something by shakespeare.

I don't think Shakespeare made films. Of course, you wouldn't know.

Every artist ever before the 21st century sucked, alright. I'm done here.

"something" doesn't have to be a film. But hey, the things he wrote have been adapted into films so that would still work too

And they don't all suck, just everything they did before the 21st century sucked. Some (like Nickelback) sucked in the 90s but then became awesome in the 2000s.

Bet Shiken that COD would outsell Battlefield in 2018. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8749702

Stairway To Heaven:
+ Lyrics
+ Satanic message
+ The better guitar solo
+ Still sounds modern

- Too long

November Rain:
+ Cool video
+ Axls voice

- To much of a 90s style arrangement
- Simple love song lyrics

Satanic message? I always thought StH was about those born with silver spoons in their mouths?

If you play it backwards!

"Here's to my sweet Satan/The one whose little path would make me sad, whose power is Satan/He will give those with him 666/There was a little toolshed where he made us suffer, sad Satan."

Now thats a different topic isnt it?
I go for stairway to heaven. I have such a respect for the quality of the material Page produced on studio in early 70's. Its so well recorded, so full of layers, with a memorable solo and progression. Its like the basis for all songs that "start slow and ends epic". I will never forget the impact I had when listened it for the first time. Also, it has messages to the devil backwards which gives it an advantage
On the other hand, november rain is absolutely amazing, one of the best ever. Slash mentions on his book that axl spent a huge amount of time on the song, recording all those keyborads making it sound like an orchestra. I was very impressed when he mentions that actually all that was keyborads... there is no orchestra recorded for the song. Its amazing.
Such a shame Guns had to end at that time.. they probably still had one more masterpiece in their hands to release...

By the way, people saying the ))'s were better than the 90's in music... please... just stop.
If you consider only rock n roll then, wow, there is absolutely no comparison to be made.
For rock n roll it goes like this:
70's -> 90's -> 60's -> 80's -> 00's

I don't think I had even heard November rain before, at least not in full.

It was nice enough, loved the ending but not something I am planning to add to my playlist.

Stairway gets my vote, I like the slow build up as it progresses, going from slow ballad to more of a rock song.

That said, if I have to put a vote to a long rock epic I would go with Kashmir, Hotel California or if I have a lot of time to spare Shine On You Crazy Diamond

Stairway to Heaven is a much better song. November Rain sounds contrived somehow. Like they were trying to write some soppy power ballad to stand with your Elton Johns and Billy Joels sort of thing. Stairway on the other hand sounded like they were actually experimenting with new sounds and blending together folk and rock in a way that hadn't been done to that degree before. And it's just much more melodic, November Rain isn't close in that regard.
