How do you play FPS games?

I use keyboard + mouse 22 81.48%

I use a controller 2 7.41%

I don't play FPSs (See results) 3 11.11%

Total:27

Keyboard and mouse of course.

Controller, especially DualShock, sucks for FPS's. I don't get some, with a mouse you literally point and shoot. What can be more convenient than that?

Controller everytime apart from twitch style games like quake or counter strike

Controller is 1000 times more comfortable to use for long play times and I don't notice getting owned every 2 seconds

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Shooters are, for the most part, absolutely awful without a mouse. Games like Uncharted manage to get a pretty decent feeling even with a controller, but then again, Uncharted also has a lot of other stuff that makes playing the games enjoyable.

Oh, in case you couldn't guess it, I play my shooters with a mouse and keyboard. Generally, they're just not enjoyable at all otherwise.

Basically FPS/TPS designed for consoles have an aim assist feature that offsets the lack of precision fo the controlles, so the aim will adjust for your target so you don't need to micromanage it, whereas the PC version don't come with such feature, which makes the controller gameplay on PC much worse than the console.

Eh. I don't like it because it doesn't feel entirely predictable to me, and it feels like it's a cheap trick to try to make something that was never a great idea work.

KB/M

Not just for precision, but situational awareness is much better with it as well. That's the main reason why I play most non-FPS games with KB/M as well, though movement with gamepad is better.

The only input that will allow me to turn 90, 180, or any angle I desire, ~within a single frame.
Being able to look both left and right, and back to the center, before (or while) running down a corridor, that just cannot be done on a controller (not without sacrificing buttons and destroying any sense of immersion).

I find M+KB to be the easiest, most straightforward method to control a character outside of VR.
Unlike a VR controller, my mouse doesn't need to be held and swung around.
I am able to aim accurately with a mouse (and I am not going to hit anyone, or anything using it, so there is that too).

It depend on the game, if it's competitive FPS like Battlefield , COD, Counter Strike, ARMA, UNREAL, QUAKE, Fortnight, etc, it's more convenience to play with mouse and Keyboard. While games like Far Cry, Fallout, Deus Ex, are enjoyable to play with gamepad.

CoD is not a thing on PC, neither Battlefield. Look at the competitive e-sport scene for CoD and you'll find out that it's only played on consoles and it's tiny compared to the competitive scene of CS:GO or even Overwatch (PC) for example.

up until very recently i was a console guy and didn't like the idea of playing on pc
but recently since i bought a nice pc with a 1080 and i've made an almost total conversion and i'm just absolutely loving pc gaming because of the superior features like the higher framerates and free online
i still prefer to play with controllers though and fortunately gta 5 and destiny 2 which are my most played games have controller support by default

K&M is better obviously but it has such a short gap between the barrier of entry and the skill ceiling I gave up on it years ago. Duel analogue is worse but it takes so much more effort to get your skills up it ends up being more enjoyable both in singleplayer and MP.

Even though K&M is not the main reason I'd skip any MP game on PC besides for strategy. Hackers be everywhere and have no shame these days even to hide it.

I've honestly yet to find a mass crowd of hackers in any given game. I ran across one cheater some years ago in a BFBC2 game, but outside of that there wasn't much for me to see in terms of actual "hackers". I did however run into two during my 360 days, when I was playing Fall of Cybertron. The two of them managed to hack the online character's, so they could swap out abilities and body parts on the fly (abilities that do not belong to certain classes, bodyparts included).

OT: M+K all the way.

I used to play with a gamepad for years, but it wasn't until 2012-2013 that I more or less transitioned from gamepad to M+K for FPS games. I still use a gamepad for other genres though.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

You haven't played counter strike then or PUBg. To say cheaters and hacking isn't a problem on PC is like saying consoles have better graphical options. It's a fact of playing on PC.

The ban waves are working and putting cheaters under control. In one single ban wave they purged over 1 million cheaters out of PUBG. You talk as if they are doing nothing about the issue.

And the ban is not a simple game key ban where you can just buy another game key: It's a GPU ban, you won't be able to play PUBG again with unless you buy another GPU. Blizzard is also doing this with OW cheaters.

I've barley played the game, I just know from mates they've given up it because of cheaters. Perhaps the bans have worked, I have no interest in the game I was just using it as an example of one that's pretty striking.

According PUBG corp. an average of 6000 players are banned every day. The cheater situation was very bad in the beginning until december 2017, but since january they put new auto-ban algos in the works that are more effective that the past ones, putting the situation under control.
