I think he forgot about how something needs to have been created in the last five years to have personality.  Nintendo doesn't rely on one franchise either. :)  You just listed five right before that.  There's nothing wrong with using the same franchise as long as the gameplay is fresh and exciting.  In fact, I prefer playing established franchises over new franchises if they are of the same degree of quality.

I never said they milked one franchise.  I listed a bunch of their  big franchises.

The only franchise that keeps things fresh (with any story in it) is advance wars, I didn't want to include a masterpiece in the rubbish I mentioned.

Non-violent? or just to lazy to make beautiful games?

colorful graphics? or just lazy?

no story? or didn't hire any story writers?

Almost no differences in the franchise for 20 years? or just milking?

EDIT: I guess nintendo games can be good for small children, who really don't care about a good story, or complex gameplay and open world gameplay.

See, that's the thing, you're confusing "doing something different" with "having personality"

Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox, Kirby, and many others. All of these Nintendo icons have personality. Just because those personalities have been around for 15 - 20 years doesn't detract from the presence of their personality. Also, hearing comments about how Nintendo is milking their franchises is retarded. The only reason they've milked it longer than anyone else is because they're the only company that has been able to SURVIVE that long. If any other company had the ability to come out with consistently good and fun games, they would.

Take this for an example; You have a friend, and they have a very specific personality that you enjoy. Do you stop hanging out with them if their personality doesn't change? No, in fact you'd likely be incredibly upset if their personality did change too drastically.
You just do different things with them and often times if you enjoy that friend's personality, you can enjoy doing things that you might not have enjoyed doing with anyone else. However, if you have something you like doing, but you're doing it with someone whose personality you don't enjoy, then eventually you'll get tired of doing things with that person.

Ok.. why are there so many "why is there so much hate for x console" threads.. i'll explain why there might be

lets say a site is perfectly even (doubtful, but lets do it)
33% 360 fans
33% PS3 fans
33% Wii fans
now lets consider.. how many people aren't 360 fans? 66% of the forum.. thats the majority.. how many people aren't wii fans? 66% of the forum.. thats the majority.. and how many people aren't ps3 fans? 66% of the forum.. thats the majority.. so even in the case of a perfectly even forum, there is still going to be a majority of dislike for any given console

because microsoft makes it, because it has a tremendous failure rate, because theres a stigma of it being not only a console that only frat boys play, but also a FPS centric console, and you have to pay for online, and its doing pretty poorly sales wise considering it had a 1 year head start and has the most games out AND the most exclusive AAA games. the list never ends really, theres a million reasons to hate it.

I think there is certainly some stigma attached to the console because of the ongoing problem with RROD. My personal opinion is that a company with that much money should not put out a piece of hardware with such widespread, catastrophic problems, there's no excuse for that. I've never had a problem with the console for any other reason than that. I wanted to get one until the quality issue came up. I still may purchase one when I have extra cash and if I can be sure I'm geting the new model.

Why in the world did you feel it necessary to call him a dim-wit?? Kind of a pointless insult if you ask me. And you don't exactly have an amazing lineup of Wii games either. You own Wii sports PLUS Zelda and COD3 (11ht11 was SOOOO off), that doesn't exactly make you an incredibly credible commentator on the Wii :).

Even though the motivation for MS and Nintendo are the same, money, I feel that Nintendo has covered it up a lot better than Microsoft has. I'll give you some of my anecdotal experience:

I own an Xbox. It got dropped like it was hot, lol. No more support, no nothing. Bam, one day I own a cool see-through green Xbox, the next day, old games, and I'm using it as a DVD player for the backroom.

I own a Gamecube. I use the controllers from that gamecube on my Wii all the time, and I feel I was gradually weened off my cube, with a big goodbye present, which was Twilight Princess.

MS seems to like to milk me a lot with their online mode. XBL is nice, but I feel it's kinda like WoW. It's totally overpriced, considering I already pay a monthly fee. I should have to pay for individual DLC along with my yearly account. I haven't signed in for years, PaulieGaultierie, if you wanna check. It just seems like I'm paying for things that I woulda got for free if Nintendo made em.

I was also scared MS was gonna try to find some way out of fixing my 360 when it RRoD'd. They didn't, but I sold it afterwards. Everything with them just seems to cost extra money. I have wireless in my house and was gonna use it for my 360, but it cost 100 bucks. It's like they made the 360 for people who live in a higher cost of living bracket than me.

However, Nintendo has sent me: a feather stylus, a Nintendo Power mag, 2 extra remote covers for my Wii-mote, and when my Gamecube controller broke down two days after I bought it(for smash) they sent me a brand new, unopened one, with a nice little survey about how helpful they had been, and a big smiley picture of Mario in the box.

It's like both companies end up with the same result, making me spend a lot of money on their products. However, when I'm finished doing business with Nintendo, I feel really good about it, and I don't know why. When I finish doing business with Microsoft, I feel like I want to sell my Microsoft crap and burn down their headquarters, and yet again, I have no idea why, but it might have to do with the feeling I get that I'm being cheated.

Also, being a bit of a hardcore Nintendo fan, I feel that the software developers, especially Miyamoto, pour his heart into Nintendo games. That's why I feel the company has a more personal feel. I think Nintendo distributes them for money, of course, but I think Intelligent Systems, or Miyamoto, can't make games like they do without some sort of passion for the actual games themselves. Microsoft just outsources their games. That's not fun.


So, I think I know why some people love Nintendo, lol, but I'm not sure why people hate Microsoft, except for the fact that their PR makes no attempt to hide the fact that they are first and foremost out to make a buck, while Nintendo never tips that hand until Reggie's E3 speeches, and even then, they kinda make you proud to be a Nintendo fan.
