Dragon Quest XI for Switch officially based on the PS4 version, won’t be censored in the west

And the fact we've only just gotten confirmation of this over 1.5 years after announcement, over a year after the Switch launched, over a year after Unreal Engine 4 support came along, and 9 months after the launch of the PS4 version really says it all.  People have been posing this question since the announcement and Square never, EVER gave any answers until now.  If there was communication, screenshots, videos, regular talk about it, ANYTHING, people would be much more understanding.  No one lost their shit about Wolfenstein 2 coming later this year vs simultaneously.  Sure there was some disappointment but Bethesda didn't just wash their hands of it for months on end and barely ever say anything.  And look at that, they have something to show!  Square either doesn't or is intentionally holding back for some reason.  And it's only going to continue to cultivate animosity.

The Switch will get the game. Why should there be animosity? You just come off as way too self-entitled.

No he has good points.

It's pretty easy to figure out why the switch version take so "long"... they want people to double dip.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

What good points are there to have animosity towards them?

They mentioned that DQ XI was coming to the Switch prior to the console being named, sure. They announced it simply to let people know that they were going to support the console. And they did. With multiple games already.

They even have Project Octopath that's exclusive for the Switch.

So why should there be any animosity? Just because a game they announced comes out on another console before coming to the Switch?

This is all just an overreaction.

You cant rely spin around this, Switch ("NX") version was announced too early and fans are not happy ofcourse because few years later we still dont know when game will be released while we know release date for PS4 version for West. Fans have good reasons to not be happy and to blame SE.

LOL, that still doesn't prove that they officially confirmed it for the Switch during the same time it was revealed for PS4 and 3DS ...

Yes. They officially confirmed it for the Switch, at the same time they revealed it was coming for both the 3DS and PS4.

I guess people can complain until the end of time because of that. There's something going on behind the scene, obviously. A big conspiracy that has nothing to do with the official statement from the dev who mentioned issues to make the engine run on the Switch. Nope. Or they don't know how to make games and are incompetent and all that. *eyerolls

They mentioned that DQ XI was coming to the Switch prior to the console being named, sure. But they didn't say when it was going to come out (Hey, it's not even out in the west on PS4). They announced it simply to let people know that they were going to support the console. And they did. With multiple games already.

I think the animosity doesn't derive from the PS4 version arriving earlier than the Switch version or from the general support towards the Switch, but rather from the very bad excuse they gave us. Problems with the UE4 arised. An issue with compaitibilty. Ok. Stuff like that happens. But then they shouldn't have anounced it before even testing simple things like that. This is basic level here, and they managed to screw up. You don't expect such nonsense from a juggernaut like SE, do you? Well, neither does him.

Furthermore, Nuvendil seems pissed because he works with UE and he knows more about it than you and me do. So I take his word over yours.
