Forums - Sales Discussion - Japan sales (Week 11): Media Create/Famitsu/Dengeki - March 12-18, 2018

I expected Switch numbers to be around 70k but almost 55k is good in any case, great debut for Kirby and Splatoon 2 is unstoppable.

PS4 sales looking not so good this week.

Yep, that average hasn't improved much at all. Clearly the only thing that boosts sales for the PS4 in Japan is a much anticipated game or a price drop. The spike and decline in sales following a big release is far starker in Japan than anywhere else, with the exception of MHW. It needs a price cut to sustain a better average in my opinion.

Gribble also note that Sony has been having supply chain issues. Not something that would boost it by insane large amount but obviously effecting the console.

Maybe ... but it would likely still leave that average wanting.

The PS5 Exists.

Disappointed hardware sales. I thought switch would be at least 70k with Kirby and splatoon bundle and ps4 was just awful. Not sure if either had supply issue

Both have hw supply, ps4 being more the normal sku.

Yeah I was talking about the Final day before it left the chart. But Once I saw this, it was only good news for Kirby.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Good sales for Kirby! This will bode well for LT sales. Looking like it will easily reach 1m in Japan alone, so maybe 3m WW possible. Without doing any sums it seems like Switch HW has gone up about 25% so not too shabby. Am guessing there were only about 5,000 Splatoon bundles made available, so it probably amounts to about half the bump. Now we have to see if it's a spike, bump, or if the baseline will actually rise for Switch.

It seems that Splatoon 2 bundle was supply constrained.
