I'd rather still have Mario Kart, but instead of having guest characters from other series (which I don't mind at all), I would like much more characters more of the spin off Mario games, like the RPGs and Luigi's Mansion. I'd love to be able to play as E-Gadd, Dreambert, or Geno, etc.

I am not sure about 3rd party characters, but MK8 already have characters and stages from some other Nintendo IPs, so with next MK game they will expand that.

I wouldn't want Nintendo All-Stars Racing as a replacement for Kart, but I'd be interested to see what such a game could be like - maybe between 8 DX and Kart 9.

I agree, there are too many filler characters, I love the game, but I kinda miss having more special and different characters!

They should make the Mario mainstream characters, add skins and make Nintendo's Smash characters unlockables, third parties could come as DLCs

Oh no you didn't. lol. F-Zero shits all over Mario Kart as far as racing goes. It's faster, more difficult and actually requires something called skill to master. There are no items to cheese your way to the front or knock you out of first place. The only item you can use to get ahead is your own nerve and dedication to learning every single detail of the game and that's the ONLY way to win on master class. 

F-Zero GX doesn't fuck around. Mario Kart is for casuals.

I agree that the clone characters should be removed or turned into skins for already existing ones, but I disagree about everything else. There's really no need to add specials to the game, it already have plenty of items and stage hazards, and even with more characters from other Nintendo ips added to the roster, it should still be Mario Kart, so no third party characters please.

I think Mario superstar baseball and moped mayhem from 1 of the Mario parties proved, there are more than enough characters in the Mario universe to fill out the roster and this is without newer additions, like Spinies, Spike, Chargin' Chuck, Chef Bros, Pauline and all the other races from Sunshine to Odyssey. Even in the roster for every Mario Party and to a lesser extent the sports titles, there is at least 1 "New" character. This is all without any clones, too.

I would love that instead of having multiple similar mario characters.

And having franchise thematic Cups would be a lot of fun!
for example a Zelda Cup would be something like:
1.Kakariko Village
2.Hyrule Field
3.Zora Domain
4.Death Mountain
5.Ganon Castle
