For adverts that block the hot topics, I report them. That said, I am normally logged in and don't see them, which is a perk of being a supporter...

I'll be frank, I don't think it should be a paid perk of any sort for the site to work as intended. Obviously, very few sites nowadays DON'T run ads, I understand that fully, and even then many run an overwhelming amount just as VGC does. For the ads to actually get in the way of some of the site's core functions, though? That's too far for me, especially when the general response whenever I see these issues brought up is either to use adblock or donate to remove ads. (Disclosure: I use an adblocker.)

This isn't entirely related to the topic here, and I'm not calling people out individually or anything (I'm only even quoting you because your comment reminded me of this, not to call you out!), it just feels like a disservice to the site itself for this topic to be brushed aside or explained away by the users whenever that time of the month comes by that somebody brings it up. Maybe I'm the only one, it just feels unhealthy to me.

That all said, kudos to the admin team for improving it over the past year or so though, it's definitely a noticeable improvement at points. Whatever everybody's been doing within the boundaries laid out has worked decently enough so far.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

I've probably explained this a dozen times now, and this is now the last time I'm going to waste time explaining this. From here out (starting with this thread), I'm just going to lock these types of threads. They serve no purpose but to regurgitate the same complaints over and over and over again, and no matter how many times I try to explain things, it does absolutely no good. It's a waste of your time and it's a waste of my time.

WE HAVE ZERO CONTROL OVER THE ADS OR THE CONTENT THAT IS SERVED UP - PERIOD.

Vgchartz is signed up with an ad providing service with a group of other websites - I can't recall the various websites at this exact moment, but I can assure you I visited those sites and the same issues everyone complains about here, seem to plague those sites as well.

The provider has specific placement requirements for their ads - we expose hooks to the provider, and at that point it is completely out of our hands. The provider fills in the space with whatever content they feel they want to put out that day/week/month, and we have no control.

So, at this point, it's MY turn to be frank. Your options are as follows:

 - report the ad and the provider should respond by changing it

 - use an adblock (no, I don't endorse this, but for the sake of my own sanity and to stop these complaints), please knock yourself out.

 - become a Supporter which allows for not only an ad-free experience, but gives access to the ongoing mobile development of the site.

Anything beyond this, is just a restatement of the same stuff we've all heard a million times already - enough. Please guys - WE GET IT!!! And if/when a solution presents itself, I will GLADLY announce it to you all and scream it from every rooftop.
