Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Overkill share new information on Payday 2 Switch edition.

Pre-ordered yesterday. I've been watching a lot of footage on YouTube of some online heists and it looks great fun.

Im interested in this one.

I would like to try it with friends, although it looks quite...umm ...mediocre :/ maybe I will give it a chance?

Not my cup of tea, else I would have bought it for my Xbox 360 back when it first came out, but then I'm not really a multiplayer guy, outside of Mario Kart nights with friends and beers. Seems good for what it is though, hopefully it's a competent port, and it really should be, I see nothing here that should challenge the Switch hardware.

Used to be addicted to this game in 2015 for a few months.

Okay, can we agree THIS will sell like shit on Switch? Not even a good game from what I remember.

It's €50 the game is literally free on Steam or at least it was, the deluxe edition of it was on sale on the ps4 for around 3-4 euros all over winter. While the game might be amazing on the Switch that is asking people to pay 17 times more than the dev is asking for the ps4 version of the game or infinitely more than the steam version.

It worries me that it could be looked at as the first major failure from a AA(?) type of game being ported to the Switch, if it was during the first few months there might be some people that would consider it, but now for around 40 you can find a retail copy of Doom which is an infinitely better game that payday.

I would consider it for the online stuff if this game was looking like it might be a success, but unless they manage to make this cross platform with the other systems or even the PC version there is no chance of this having any sort of active community I would think.

Plus I just checked VGC's database; so far, the highest selling version of this (physical anyway) is the Xbox 360, and that didn't even crack 600k.

Hell, the PS4 and Xbox One versions combined only come to 540k.

Good point. I hope if it sells poorly the community are as enthusiastic as the Wii U COD community. Those games sold bad, but there was always a few thousand die hards players keeping it alive.

So yeah, the game sold like shit on consoles where it was cheap or free and most of the copies of it which exist are more likely to be gathering dust than actively played online, I just can't see this doing well on the Switch, Jesus I think on this site I'm in the top 5 people for buying Switch games and I cannot imagine picking it up.

Also just looking at it in my steam library.... it's a 50GB install.... even using any sort of compression or cutting of content from it, that game is still going to be a major consumer of SD card space on the Switch, the only way you could convince people to drop money and space on that game on Switch would be if it cost something around 10-20e and even then I would be slow to buy it just because I would rather give 15gb to Skyrim than sink that space into a online game with such a low player count.
