Gears for Breakfast: "A Hat in Time is not coming to the Switch"

Forums - Gaming Discussion - Gears for Breakfast: "A Hat in Time is not coming to the Switch"

Shame. I want every indie on Switch. Oh well. I tend to avoid buying PC games even though I can perfectly play this game on my laptop. I tend to have a hierarchy on what games I buy on my list. Being on Switch really boosts your chances of being bought.

For a Hat in Time I want to get it but it is PC digital only. This puts it in a much lower position on my priority list. If they are lucky I will buy it by the end of the year or if they are unlucky I will never buy it at all.

I am the customer and there are a lot of games out there. I can only get so many. I have tons of games to buy and not having this one won't hurt much.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems!

I'm siding with the dev on this one. I've seen many a dev being hounded daily by tweets/facebook messages of "port it to Switch" being thrown around. This dev just flat out says no and all hell lets loose.

I find it rather amusing as to the answers that'll show up here, as the dev has had a history of being hounded for a Switch port, which I imagine will be ignored, and instead the devs responses being looked at more so than the people that were hounding him.

What else is amusing, are those who were siding with how kamiya responded to other gamers on multiple platforms and thinking that was A-ok, and this somehow isn't.

I've also noticed on some game Steam threads, that people are using those as a podium to ask devs to port the games over to Switch.

Kamiya used his personal account. Gears for Breakfast is letting their official account behave like this and it makes the studio as a who look unprofessional. Different situation.

I dont really even see this as being rude. It's their game to make. If they don't want it on the Switch then it's their prerogative. I'd prefer a Switch version but their behavior is not really that terrible.

Cant get everything. Also the Switch isn't exactly hurting in the platformer genre.

When devs are dicks to fans like this is rarely goes well. Dennis Dyack, Phil Fish, Slightly Mad and others. Fuck em. I was never interested in the game but these guys have been asshats on Twitter before. besides if you have a Switch Mario Odyssey is better anyway. Kirby is out soon as well. I'm not a huge platformer fan and couldn't care less about the game but I've seen people on ERA who posted them nicely inquiring about a Switch port and they were very rude to him. These are just not nice people lol. Meh whatever.

I don't think this is intentionally funny but this is still pretty funny

No offense to you in particular Rocketjay, but i'm calling bullshit. It's an indie studio. We can't frolic around about how great non-industry conformists(a stretch I know) are and then get mad when they show a bit of personality on Twitter. Don't like them for what they said, that's fine, but don't make the critique about "professionalism". Just say "I don't like dicks, and that was a dick move," or something. Notice how when they got a question with good etiquette they responded in kind.

The amount of people hounding him doesn't look good either in that light.

Regardless, one dev acted like a total loudmouth and that wasn't something to cheer for, and then picking this dev and saying they were in the wrong.

I'm sorry, but I'm frankly not buying how it's fine for Kamyia to fob off 3 platform follower groups, yet this one dev team it isn't, especially when this dev team has been hounded by Nintendo followers for some time.

Unnecessarily rude and unprofessional, yes it might get annoying people asking for the same things over and over but customers buy the games that pay your bills. If anything, fans begging for things is free market research.
