Whoa calm down lmao.

First of all, a big company like that doesn't say "I want to sell 20+ millions" for no reason. Every number they give is analyzed by the investors they can't just throw random hopes like this if it doesn't mean anything. If there is anything, it is their goal for FY 2018 but before they had to make a solid announcement, which like I said, will most likely be up by now following them having an incredible first holiday season and the Switch looking to become the fastest selling console of all time on it's first year.

The 20+ million numbers were following the 10 million announcement which was sell through consumer, so I'm pretty sure it was indeed referring to sold and not shipped, or else they would have specified. And now that the numbers are probably up from their announcement before the holidays, we can just wait for their next move.

If I'm not mistaken and it really is 20+ (and btw, they said it in a way referring to atleast 20 million, so it might be even more but they wanted to share a more realistic prediction since it was so far off the period he was talking about) they could clearly be producing 25 million consoles.

Anyway, I don't understand why you are so pressed, we have so little information I'm just saying "if the rumour is true". But seeing how the console is selling, it will most likely be true.

Have I said they go and make light of their announcements? Nope, just said they wanting to sell is different than what they will formally put on their projections.

And sure, I have no issue with their 20M+ intention is sell through and not shipment.

I was talking about another rumor on VGC that had Nintendo either PRODUCING 30M to SHIP 25M or PRODUCE 25M to SHIP 20M... those are the ridiculous numbers because it would have to much on invetory. And when you said you agreed with the rumor I thought you knew which one it was.

I don't think it was a "rumour on vgchartz". Iirc the original article was sourced from the Wall street journal. There was no ethnicity pointed to in these claims though, therefore regardless of the source it still remains a rumour.

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

I put as rumor on VGC, as a rumor that was posted on VGC.

ethnicity??

The whole point is shipping 5M less than producing, not selling through 3M less than producing...

Right, the "I don't like Nintendo games" is the new excuse nowadays. It's like Metroid/Zelda/Kirby are all the same artstyle, type of game and everything. Seriously we all know these people only play games for how "cool" it can make them look, they don't really care about the rest.

No, you just have to realise there really are a huge number of gamers who have no interest at all in buying Nintendo platforms. I'd play a Nintendo game if it was put in front of me (and enjoy it), or If I arrived at a house with other people playing I'd join in, but I'd never actually go out and buy one. There's just far more appealing stuff on the market for those with different tastes.

I also don't think I've ever seen 'playing games' and 'looking cool' put together.

That was not my point. You are talking about a Nintendo system, I was referring to the "I hate every single Nintendo game" like they are all the same thing..

I get that, we all have favorite consoles and some favorite companies.

I'm similar, but I end up buying older gen Nin system and games... this time I may buy Switch during gen so I can play with my kid

I thought the whole thing stemmed from trying to understand the appeal of the console.

"but there is gotta be something you like while they are literally doing every damn genre ever."

Are you talking about first party games? because yes is possible not to like the style/approach Nintendo take with their games, no matter how diverse the genres they cover.

Authenticity and i agree. Producing 5m more than you ship isn't the best idea. The way i saw it was, if true a flexible 25-30m to be produced, depending on demand. This could work if demand isn't massively overestimated.

If Nintendo believe it can sell through over 25M and prepares to produce and ship 30M is something (that they will prepare to produce 30M and will do weekly/monthly verification to produce the right amount to sell all), to say they would produce 30M to ship 25M to keep 5M in warehouse because they may need it is strange (because then they would keep producing on that rate of 2-2.5M/month, would have 5M on inventory and another 2M on shipping channels) and considering the FY will end in March (right?) they would have 7M unsold consoles for the slowest quarter plus what they will normally produce. That would be an accountability crazyness which would inccur in a lot of unedded cost.

But I'm happy Nintendo is confident on crossing 20M on its second year.

It stemmed from pillertriller saying the system offered nothing for non-nintendo game fans - implying that all Nintendo games share very common, divisive traits...

The only common traits I can see is a gameplay first approach and a tonne of polish (with the odd exception of course).

I'd say the term 'Nintendo games' would cover both first and second party and in doing so would present quite a challenge for those games not to be liked across the board by a true video game fan who isn't concerned with brand loyalty...

Even sticking purely to only this generation's big 2 though, I find it hard to believe that there's a discernible common thread running through odyssey and BOTW, that could be identified and interpreted as a negative...

If I'm missing something obvious though, please enlighten me...

Is it possible to be an open world adventure game fan and dislike botw? I guess...

Is it possible to be a platfomer fan and dislike odyssey? I can't see how, but let's say yes.

Is it possible to be a fan of both of those games genres and not like both of those games - I have to say no, not without some extreme prejudice. And I think it is prejudice more often than not that keeps many gamers from enjoying Nintendo games rather than the companies catologue being too samey or 1-note...
