The Xbox One won December 2014 with over 50% market-share.

Was the Xbox One's marketshare really over 50% in 2014?

Wii, Wii U, PS4,PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, 3DS, Vita

I can't see it selling more than the other 7 combined, even if you ignore handhelds, I still can't sell it outselling the other 5 combined

Just checked: Microsoft discontinued the 360 in 2016 so he could be correct literally and still be in third place if he is referring to the 360.

Why:

The Xbox One won December 2014 with over 50% market-share.
There is no way that they beat that this year. There is no way it beat the Switch and PS4 combined.
BUT: the 360 was still selling very well in December in 2014 and he said OUR XBOX ONE marketshare.
Of all of the spin ever, this takes the cake though.

December 2014 Xbox had a 38% market share.

To clarify I was talking about the PS vs Xbox.  I didn't count Wii U or portables and I meant consoles only.

I game shared on my xbox in December....

Does that help?

Then you're missing the PS3 and Xbox 360. Ps3,Xbox 360, Wii U, PS4 and XBO in 2014 the XBO had a 38% console market share. This is without handles. Highest Xbox share was December 2016 with 48% in consoles.

lol Aaron Greenberg is such a troll

Looks like Xbox came in second place based on this.

Well, he said that he has no idea, so his guess is as good as ours.

That would put Xbox December sales above 1.3m if that's what he means.

Which actually sounds reasonable. It's down YOY from December 2016, which I think most people expected, but not terribly so.

Yea, I think your theory is right. They most likely mean that XBO did the highest percentage of sales for the year. This is really spinning a bad first 9-10 months as a positive.

The only other explanation I can think of is that they are saying the highest percentage they have had so far out of all consoles sold. Which also could make sense, since there are really only 3 consoles selling well this year for December in the US. Previous years we still had 3DS, 360, and to a smaller extent PS3.

I think we can rule out 2 things, both for the same reason: Xbox One wasn't the best selling console in December, and it also wasn't the Xbox One's best December (and also month) to date. If either was the case Microsoft simply would have said so.

This.

Either way, MS is still the king of spin. Not that anyone really wants to challenge them for that crown.

NSW > XB1 > PS4 in a close fought month.

My only explanation is that they count the Wii U, but not the Switch?

Guess that is possible. Very stupid if true...

The ns is next gen technically.

Oh wait, I don't get it, maybe they're counting the Wii U instead of the Switch
