It was the first hybrid which was used in gaming. Handheld market shrinking each year, look at DS to 3DS sales and PSP to Vita sales and this Switch is a new handheld Nintendo made with $300 price, outside some Nintendo portables fans, no one think they can sell decent, let alone success. Are you a Nintendo fan? Clearly not, if i'm not mistaken, many Sony fans disagree with Switch will continue selling in 2018 or more precisely, they think Switch will stop in 2018 and get GameCube sales or a bit more at best. Look like some change the attitude too fast, i wonder why. Because it is Sony, right?

Just because a market may be shrinking, doesn't mean those customers are gone forever, or new one's can't be added. Vita isn't a very good example because it's support and marketing was very poor. The proper product will sell, you just have to create it and market it correctly. Based on my avatar, yes, I am a fan of all brands. I do slightly prefer PS, but not by much. I don't know why you think I hate Nin. I've simply been trying to explain why a new PS portable could be possible, and all you seem to want to do is prove that somehow what I'm really trying to do is bash Switch. For what it is, it's a great product. Not exactly for me, mostly due to it's lack of third party support at the moment, which is why a PS portable that would play PS4 games, which would almost guarantee third party support, would be enticing. If Switch were $100 cheaper, with the support it has now, I could justify buying it for it's Nin games, but that's just me. Other PS fans can think whatever they want, but Switch looks to be on a roll, which doesn't guarantee it sells like Wii in the end, but it clearly is a major improvement over Wii U. This year should be a major indication. If Switch sales at the very least flatline and stay steady, 40M - 50M sales shouldn't be out of the question. Maybe sales increase, maybe they decrease. We'll see what happens. Many things can change in a years time, that may or may not be something Nin can control. The truth is, the better Switch does, the more likely PS or XB are going to try and create their own Switch.

And of course Sony can make better Switch by copy Nintendo idea's first then hope for AMD can make a mobile chip that is way stronger than Nvidia's Tegra X3 which cost $250 only and last 4 - 5 hours or even a lot more. It also can sell like PSP because all Western customers are willing to buy a portable when they love play on TV with mega hit like Sonymon - Pokemon killer

Honestly, I don't even see how there is an argument to a PlayStation Switch Succeeding, especially if it takes over for the Xperia brand as well. Sony was able to sell 16 million Vitas with almost no support. They are able to sell 14 million Xperias a year with no marketing or contracts in the US. There is really no easier play in all of business than Sony finally delivering a PlayStation Phone that can hook to the TV. It should have happened with the original PSP, and it still should happen today.

The most versatile gaming device ever made, the deepest library in the history of mobile gaming devices, the first VR enabled handheld gaming device, and the first portable gaming device to allow full form online multiplayer any time any place with wifi or a 4G/5G. Sony has everything they need to make every statement above a reality, and if they do, they will propel PlayStation and Sony into the big leagues.

I think both a portable/hybrid and phone could do well enough to make it worth supporting, but I don't see either product coming anywhere close to PS4 territory. Even PS3 numbers would surprise me. Maybe sales of both added together. PS would also have to focus more on free to play games, first and third party. I would have to assume if they were going to attempt this, they would try a Switch like model first, and if that sold well enough, then the phone possibly. They would have the gaming aspect covered well, but as for the rest of the phone itself, trying to take a larger portion of Apple and Samsung's pie isn't going to be easy. A small handheld with the flip screen portion being removable as a phone would be their best bet I think. Small enough to be a phone, large enough together to be a handheld with decent controls. I think PS needs a strong enough and stable enough handheld/hybrid before they even attempt an all in one phone with a strong gaming focus.
