Bullshit, in the last 7 years 3D mario sold +16M copies with 2 games (3DLand and 3DWorld), that's not too far from the 18m that Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 sold.

In Lucas's mind, 3DLand and 3DWorld are not 3D Mario games so 3D Mario games disappeared from 7 years according to him. It doesn't make any sense but there you have it.

3D Land was great as a mobile game. Short but fun levels. The perfect mobile Mario 3D game.

But for the first Mario game for a console, and ESPECIALLY the first HD Mario ever, people were rightfully expecting more. I remember the first trailer and I remember bursting out laughing when I saw it. I felt I was being pranked. I was embarrassed for Nintendo and knew right away it would flop. The first 3D Mario should SELL the system, not turn people off it.

If Mario 3D World was released AFTER something like a Galaxy or Odyssey-style game, the reception would have been better.

And these are just my favourites, but almost all of the tracks in the game are recognizable. That's just how good the music is. I doubt I'll remember New Donk City theme in a year or two... or the steam forest theme... or Shiveria... or the Lake Kingdom.

Also, I was extremely disappointed with Odyssey credits theme. It's just the fucking cascade kingdom music. That's plain lazy. In Galaxy we had two beautiful brand new themes, in 3D World we had a great remix of the main theme with some additions... C'mon Nintendo, you can do better!

I don't know, to me soundtrack is basically the second most important aspect of a videogame by far.  In Odyssey I was expecting something of Mario Galaxy/64 levels... and I got a bunch of musical tracks that I won't remember once I've finished the game. For a game that is awesome in every other regard... this is a major bummer.

Double Cherry Pass was an excellent and memorable track, but honestly, that and the train theme are the only pieces of music from 3D World that stand out to me; the rest, much like the game itself, was solid but nothing special IMO.

Both are good. Prefer 3D World.

The first trailer for 3D world was awful. The whole reveal of that game was botched. I remember them asking "So what's new?" and then asnwering "There's clear pipes now". It was very underwhelming.

The second trailer more than made up for it though and the actual game was tremendous and that's all that counts in the end.

What a childish OP and language.
Hope we don’t get more threads of this level on the site.

3D World was awesome. While I agree that Odyssey is superior, I don't agree with how you downplayed 3D World. That game was very good. Your wording is what some are having a problem with.

We like Odyssey and it's deserving of praise but if we're using sales as a metric (like some users have), aren't the 2D NSMB games or Mario Maker the better franchise?

Also, the idea that a game with a 93 on Metacritic sucks disgusts me. When I think of the best times I've had on WiiU, 3D World is amongst the top of the list. And, for a series of years, I enjoyed the WiiU more than its immediate competition.

If SMO did anything really well it was showing how SM3DW was absolutely not a proper 3D Mario game. As I have been telling people for years. So, thank you SMO for proving to those fuckers how a proper 3D Mario game is supposed to look.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I really enjoyed Mario 3d world, but also totally agree with you.

Next, totally open world Mario. See how it works out.

This one!

loved Mario 3D World but when you put it your way... YEAH! Odysey all the way!

it is hard, difficult and challenging!

Switch!!!

Super Mario 3D World was a great continuation of Super Mario 3D Land...
It was a very poor continuation of 3D Mario as we knew him on home consoles...
But we got the Captain Toad spinoff out of it, so I regret nothing...

Have a nice day...
