I'm not sure how it's handled on Metacritic, but I (mostly) see this as what star system translates into:

no star = 00-05; ½ = 06-15; ★ = 16-25; ★½ = 26-35; ★★ = 36-45; ★★½ = 46-55; ★★★ = 56-65; ★★★½ = 66-75; ★★★★ = 76-85; ★★★★½ = 86-95; ★★★★★ = 96-100

Alternatively:

no star = 00-04; ½ = 05-14; ★ = 15-24; ★½ = 25-34; ★★ = 35-44; ★★½ = 45-54; ★★★ = 55-64; ★★★½ = 65-74; ★★★★ = 75-84; ★★★★½ = 85-94; ★★★★★ = 95-100

As a P&C adventure fan, I frequent Adventuregamers.com since late 90s and they use 5 star system - when I see ★★★½ that is definitely something that is on my radar, and often I'll play ★★★ - sometimes I'll even try out ★★½ game. So, at least in my head, 5 star system is much more balanced than 0-10 or 00-100.

Good that he doesn't do reviews anymore. Giving BOTW a 7 and Mario a 10 despite them having some of the same flaws is kinda weird. But I guess that's a lot of subjectivity in there.

Though he is right that SMO is better than BOTW.

It's all the more funny by the posts made by people (including on here) of how he would give SMO a terrible review. Jim Sterling is such a bad man, he hates Nintendo games, clickbait!

It's amazing how someone can be demonised for giving a game a 7, and how angry people can get over a video game review. Though when he did reviews his scores were often wack.

lol I wonder how many people are going to fall for that joke? He's been praising that game endlessly, "undeniable GOTY contender".

There was already a photoshopped review of his with a fairly pedestrian score for the game circulating a week ago, so he really doesn't even need to provide the joke himself heh

As someone who likes both BOTW and Odyssey (id give both about a 8.5) its crazy to me how much people got mad at the BOTW 7. And look, ill admit i kind of get it. The dude can be obtuse and arguably he articulated it badly. But most people where hating just for the score alone... 

And then when people dared to question if Odyssey was overrated, I saw like 3 seperate videos in one week talking about how saying Odyssey is overrated is ridiculous and only people who havent played it think so. 

Nintendo IMO make such great games, but thats exactly why I want them to be criticized

The more I play both games ( Odyssey, BOTW) the less great they become. In BOTW exploring the world was fun until it became evident that the rewards you get for exploring doing goblin camps and side quests are crap.

In Odyssey all I do in every level is look for moons then fight an easy boss then look for more moons rince repeat which is fun but not 10/10 IMO

someone spread a photoshopped photo of his 'review' giving it a 7/10 before he even got the game since they were salty over his BOTW review where he did give it a 7/10

so. the 7/10 here is just poking fun at the idiots that did that, if you just listen to it he sais it is GOTY material and he likes the game + he stopped doing scoring in his reviews

How are so many people missing the joke this hard? Some are even calling the video clickbait, which doesn't even make sense considering its title.
