Hmmm after looking at the monthly’s ranking, according to amazon anyway, Xbox might actually somehow not win November after all. PS4 is currently #13 for November with gray switch at 12 and neon at 9. Scorpio at 20 and X at 22.

Interesting. If they somehow lose November then they are truly done for this gen imo.

My new prediction is now Switch>PS4>Xbox. Let’s see what the coming days do to the rankings.

They're sitting at 20 and 22 for November. Preorders are still going to factor in. Not to mention xbox has consistently had more consoles in the top 50 for most of the month thus far.

It's going to come down to black Friday. November NPD is up for grabs for anyone. Exciting times to be on a sales forum!

Yeh we all saw how it was selling at $40, hence why it's now at $20. I think we all know that's the only way it would outsell BOTW tbh.

Isn't it supposed to be a good thing that more people can get to play the game?

And I don't get whats with people that are for prices remaining higher as if they are getting a cut of whatever nintendo makes. If sony invests $50M into making a game and projects to sell 2M copies at $60/game making $120M.... and they hit that target... how is it then somehow a bad thing if they drop the price to $30 so the can sell another 2M copies?

And are we forgetting that we are talking about a new IP up against an IP that has been around before i even started playing games?

Are we also forgetting taht this is something sony can afford to do due to the amount of money they make from all the third party games on their platform? I am lost.

Perhaps you should read the whole comments chain. Pretty sure it was written originally, explicitly to get a response but regardless, i merely explained the actuality of the case in point.

DON'T WIN ME CHIBI BUDDY DON'T WIN ME.

ANIMAL CROSSING NEW LEAF FRIEND CODE:- 5129 1175 1029. MESSAGE ME.
ANDY MURRAY:- GRAND SLAM WINNER!

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

Very exciting. Haven’t had such a close 3 way race in I don’t know how long. Makes me wish it was like this more often. The community here here in general feels a lot more active than it has in a long time.

Doesn't make the game any less big than what it is.
The fact of the matter is, people were willing to pay $360 + tax, minimum, to play just Zelda on the Switch. The game sold more copies (2.76) than the Switch shipped units (2.74) in its first month, over a 100% attach rate. There are very, very, VERY few franchises capable of that.
And it has consistently remained among the top selling games 8 months after its release, despite new releases coming out for the Switch. Kind of like how Grand Theft Auto V has kept selling consistently great despite coming out on PS4 3 years ago AND being a port. Breath of the Wild is the Switch's GTA V. It's gonna keep going, and going, and going, and going, for a looong time.

The game did not sell more copies than what the Switch shipped - it shipped more copies. Which means that the rest was sitting on shelves.

And the Switch hasn’t had so many releases that it would affect Zelda’s sales. Just looking at the US, according to VGC, only 2 games sold more than 1M (we can add SMO to the list) so not much in terms of competition.

Sold or shipped; Doesn't matter, still more than the Switch. Still unprecedented and extremely rare. Still a testament to how big Zelda truly is and there's nothing you can say that can make it seem like it isn't, no matter how hard you try, Lawlight.
Did you already forget it had a Wii U version that could have potentially taken sales away?

The Switch has had a steady stream of releases every single month.
April: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
May: Minecraft, Ultra Street Fighter II
June: ARMS
July: Splatoon 2
August: Mario + Rabbids, Monster Hunter XX (Japan), Sonic Mania
September: Pokken DX, NBA 2K18 (digital), FIFA 18, Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2Fire Emblem Warriors (Japan)
October: NBA 2K18 (physical), WWE 2K18, Fire Emblem Warriors (Worldwide), Super Mario Odyssey
November: Sonic Forces, Doom, Skyrim, LA Noire, Rocket League
December: Xenoblade Chronicles 2
When I say the Switch has had one of the best, if not the best, first year lineup for a video game system in history, it's not just me.
And this is not counting all the other indie games backing it up.

And yet, Zelda has constantly maintained its position and has consistently been among the top 10-20 best selling games month in and month out in the NPD, eShop, and Media Create.
If the Switch was selling like the Wii U, you'd be saying "Of course, Zelda is selling this well because it's the only game that's being released. They've got nothing else to play." Or something like, "Of course, Zelda is doing that well because nobody but Nintendo diehards bought it."
Hell, you might say all that stuff anyways, along with any other stuff that we can expect from you, Lawlight. Because, that's what you do when the topic is about Nintendo. More specifically, when Nintendo is doing great.

So, let me get this straight. One of Nintendo's biggest, most highly anticipated, and critically acclaimed first party titles, from one of the biggest and most beloved 1st party franchises, is selling head and shoulders above most of the other games available on their own system and, additionally, is currently the best selling game on said system.
Well, I don't know what to say to this other than...

Regarding your Zelda Wii U version comment, it sold in excess of 400k copies. Not sure it’s current total numbers for that version.

Nintendo already stated those were sold-through units, not shipped figures.

It’s the same number from their financial report:

https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2017/170427_6e.pdf

So that number is sold-in.
