Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ed Boon Talks About Bringing Injustice 2 And NetherRealm Games To Nintendo Switch

the first one released on wii u and ps vita, why not?

At the Brazil Game Show, GameSpot caught up with NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon. Boon was asked about potentially supporting Switch in the future.

Boon, known for his work on the Mortal Kombat series, directed Injustice 2 earlier this year. He indicated that the game could theoretically run on Switch, but adjustments would need to be made in order for it to happen.

Boon said:

“Yeah, I think at the end of the day you can make almost any game… there are inevitable compromises, but you know, you can make some version of Injustice on the Atari 2600. It’s not going to be great, but I bet you can make something.”

Boon was also specifically asked if he has any interest in looking into having games on Switch. Responding to this, he stated:

“Yeah, actually, I do. It is a pretty different hardware architecture; it’s not like you can go from a PlayStation 4 to a Switch really easily. So I think we would need to set up something in terms of an external team. I know on the art team, we have enough people to do three console SKUs, and that would be something we’d need to work out.”

“From the game player’s perspective, would it be fun to play Injustice on [Switch]? I do think it would. You could have tournaments, everyone comes over with their own system and you can have whole structured tournaments and parallel gameplay and all that.”

Ouch.

But ... Injustice 2 ... before ..... Marvel vs. Capcom ...

CAPCOM

CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPCCCCCCCCCCCCCCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM

Personally, I think a late Injustice 2 port will not be good. Hopefully their next game might have a Switch version but no one really needs to bother with a super late port of a fighting game where the story is already known and the main competitive players already have some version of it on another system.

Less talking, more doing please.

bets: [peak year] [+], [1], [2], [3], [4]

It's only been out a few months. Xenoverse2 was a year old and it seems to be doing quite well.
Depends how long porting takes.

It mostly depends on the fanbase, with certain games have fanbases that are more then willing to double dip or wait until a game hits the system they want. There are fans of Dragonball that never played Xenoverse 1 or 2 because they only have a Switch, this would especially be true in Japan.

I don't know if Injustice has that sort of fanbase.

I wouldn't mind Mortal Kombat 9 on the Switch. I think it looks better than X, and with a much better story.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Buy Street Fighter II a couple of times more and maybe they'll bring it. XD

But really, at this point I would just wait for a port of the Ultimate MvsC 3 instead of Infinite, I don't think Capcom is going to support it more than SFV after those lackluster results.

I'd definitely like to see more fighting games, although I'm pretty sure Injustice 2 (And MKX) use more buttons than there are on a single joycon controller (They use all four shoulder buttons, joycons on their own only have two) so they'd have to figure out a workaround to that. But yeah, more fighting games please!

You don't NEED to be able to play a game with a single joy-con for it to be on the Switch. Zelda doesn't let you do that. I know Injustice has a Multiplayer mode, but whatever. Being able to play with one joy-con is an extra, not a requirement.
