I love GT games and have all gold medals in GT5 prologue (one b**** a** challenge with a F40 almost drove me to madness but after dozens of tries i did it, pwned it), GT5 and GT6 and i did the Beta and now this demo trial, the one thing i have issues with is the collision physics, it was not very good on the beta and by the end i think they changed it and got better but now on the demo seems that it got worse again...

Example, the first online track i did was dragon tail and i did not hit a single car, all collisions were caused by others and i did got down signal for the SR and that is fine, the thing is the collisions seams to carry to much weight and get the car way too much off track...

I ended the race with a 10 second penalty because people pushed me into the rails too easily in the chicane before the last turn... The collisions look like bumper cars... I really hope they can adjust that so that people don't exploit that to hurt the others...

Probably when the game get the lap time classification for level tiers this will mostly correct this issue for serious player. But bumps at over 200 km/h should really be quite damaging and push you out of track.

I agree...about the only thing I don’t like as well atm. Just as you said, a collision between two cars shouldn’t just make the other car bounce off..it should absorb some energy and slow the movement down before. Atm it’s too bouncy, even though I don’t mind that much...it’s always been like that with GT, but I’d be happy if they at least make it an option (although for online it certainly needs to be fixed for all I guess)

I certainly noticed I need to train a bit more and get to know the tracks before I do more online play. I had a wheel with GT6 and am still adjusting to controller play. I kept on making too many mistakes which affected others in my first few races and I don’t want my own inability to hurt my reputation in the long run.

Btw does anybody know if the choice of controller affects the matchmaking?

Alright, i've put about 2.5 hours into Gran Turismo Sport and i thought it'd be nice to put my thoughts here.

I guess one thing to note before i begin is that my previous experiences with racing simulators have been quite negative. I think i bought one or two of them on the PS3 and really didn't enjoy either, and dropped them very quickly. This is also my first ever Gran Turismo. Because of that, i'd say i'm pretty much a novice, and of course i don't have any specialised controllers etc.

But yeah, despite what i just said, my overall experience is quite positive, which is something i'm really happy to say! I first stated off with the sort of tutorial 'missions', and then just regular races against AI. From these, i thought it was okay, the game i felt controlled really nicely, but these kinda small bite-sized races and tutorials weren't really too exciting to me. However, moving on to the 'Mission Challenges', I had a lot more fun overall. Having small and varied little challenges such as having to overtake a few cars through harsh corners, or knocking over enough cones, were actually a good amount of fun. Still, i was feeling that with these, i'm not sure if i was fully convinced.

Then i played another challenge that involved having to do a full race, with the pit stops and all, with quite challenging AI, and it's here that i felt the game really clicked with me. Having to really concentrate and experiment to see when it was best to brake, accelerate, and see what lines to take to overcome the difficult AI, was really a lot of fun. It took me the best part of 40 mins to just get the bronze medal, but it still felt very satisfying to just get that after having difficulties knowing how to really drive suitably on a race track.

I still haven't tried some other things, but as I said overall i'm pretty happy with my experience, and of course in the final game there will be a lot more of other things to do. In-terms of things like graphics and sound, the graphics are nice, though on my TV it's hard to judge since it's not great, and the soundtrack is fine, with the actual sound effects sounding on-point. I'll likely play some more, but right now I feel that i wouldn't buy it at full price, but i'll keep a very close eye on any deals. But who knows, maybe playing it some more will fully convince me!

Also, if you wanna give some simple beginner tricks that may allow me to enjoy it a lot more, feel free, it'd be very helpful since i'm a complete novice at the game!

Bump em back! I noticed that too, they pushed me completely off the track in my first attempt. I didn't get rear ended though when I forgot the pit stop, but I stayed out of the racing line while coasting on fumes. Who starts a race with a drop of fuel in the tank!

you are picking a race in the middle of it =p

several times when I was trying to keep in front of Kramer to win the race I got rammed and ended backwards.

Certainly doesn't work to use the walls and oponents to pass.

I noticed you get a time penalty now when you hit a wall (was on the Tokyo express route challenge). It's a bit strange how it works. It tells you to slow down which will make the time count down, yet you can also ignore it and hope it will count down in the next sharp corner. When you still have penalty time left over at a checkpoint the game will forcibly slow you down.

The immediate penalties in GT5 made more sense, but I guess you can see it as a gameplay element. Use the walls for as much that you can lose penalty time in the corners. Hitting the wall on the rally track is not advisable though.

It didn't look groundbreaking visually (on a base PS4), but it seemed to play alright so there is that.

I am not a big racing sim fan, so take my opinion as you desire.

Does progress from the demo carry over to the full game?

Yep I found it strange. But I was more like saying about bumping or wall riding will slow will down enough to not be advisable even without penalties. Just bad that even when NPC make a mistake I still get penalty as was in GT5 and back bump.

Money will, I believe cars and progress will also.

Sure... At 200 km/h yes but my example was in a chicane at around 80 to 100km/h and i see lots of WTCC races and i kind of understand the physics of cars bumping each other... My thing is that they almost had it pretty good on the closed beta and now it went backwards.

Another thing i don't like is the launch starts... If people aren't good at still starts they shouldn't win races... Hope they do still starts in higher difficulty...

Proudest Platinums - BF: Bad Company, Killzone 2 , Battlefield 3 and GTA4

One comment on the endurance race with 30 laps, won on the last corner... could had over 1min of advantage if the AI in some corners didn't ram me on the side and put me out spinning.

Perhaps it could also be hard on the processing with over 20 cars all close together fully rendering at once... but I also find it needs to have the option to stand still.
