Resolution varies on a game-by-game basis; it's up to the developers to choose what resolution they want to target.

In this instance, FIFA is 1080p on both Switch and Xbox One.

There's also more to graphics than just resolution; there are some 1080p games on PS3/360 and some 720p games on PS4/Xbox One, but that doesn't make PS3 stronger than PS4.

FIFA 18 is a good attempt, can't really call this a 'half-assed' port in comparison to the previous Nintendo systems ...

Although it is odd that the AI is mentioned to be more erratic on Switch like the last gen versions compared to the current gen versions ...

Matches don't play like in the current gen releases, can say it's not even comparable to last gen versions in a few regards, it's also missing content in FUT, can't play with friends online...I can give you half-assed isn't the proper term if you want, but I think it should closely resemble the major versions. 



My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Agreed.  But, as you allude, it is all relative.  It looks pretty weak next to PS4.  Looks pretty good next to XB360.  

I agree with many previous commenters - this is about what we expected.  And, frankly, if it can do that in portable mode, I'd say that speaks reasonably well for the Switch.

I think it looks good enough, I don't think the average player will be that concerned about the graphics, the only thing that really exposes its inferior is the audience texture and motion, that really stands out when comparing with the Ps4/Xbox1 versions

on the other hand, it's the first FIFA on Switch, there is lots of potential for improvement if there's another next year

I'm not into sports games but I hope the game has legs on the Switch. 1080 60 is commendable.
