LOL; EA is only creating 'artificial demand'!

With how much companies like EA dominate the xbone and PS4 sales charts and how small the Switch userbase still is, it wouldn't surprise me if EA did the bear minimum to promote or stock the Switch version of FIFA.  Along with power differences, EA has spent so long ignoring Nintendo platforms that the amount of work they'd have to do to both court Nintendo audiences and rework their games wouldn't be worth it compared to just trying to maintain the status quo.  I'm personally not expecting much from EA on the Switch unless sales explode to a point where people would start to get fired for ignoring the platform and at this point, I wouldn't care since everything I used to like from EA (Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Dead Space, Command & Conquer, Sims, Sim City) has turned to crap while other games like Star Wars Battlefront 2 seem to be too power intensive and would essentially have to be remade from scratch for the Switch.

It's a poor excuse. it is missing something trival that isn't even meaningful to the game.

The effort is there for the game.

It's missing The Journey, missing several subfeatures from other modes (which doesn't make any sense whatsoever), and to reiterate what I said months ago, *perception* matters.  When are you people going to realize that?  No Joe Consumer doesn't have a check list of every feature missing in Fifa Switch.  But Joe Consumer has been informed, I guarantee you, through whatever grape vine they are tied in to, that the Switch is missing several features and pieces of features.  It's gimped.  Lacking.  THAT'S what the average Joe knows and THAT'S what is damaging.  It's like with Street Fighter V.  Those millions of SFIV fans, did they know of every single missing piece in SFV?  No, but they knew it was lacking content and modes and characters and that was it, done, sale lost.  Consumers aren't hyper aware of every little detail, but general perceptions filter down constantly.  And the fact EA did absolutely no promotion to offset this and no damage control of any kind (other than implying Switch owners are simpletons), this was perhaps the most predictable failure of a AAA game in quite some time.

The journey is certainly notable but you're talking about an audience that won't really touch that mode. I don't even think half of FIFA 18 players have even started it (going by trophies).

I understand your point, but I think you're grossly exagerrating what's missing and what actually matters to FIFA fans.

Wow, who'd have guessed.

The real issue I think is PS4/XB1 just have a lock on this market. FIFA is THE game for a lot of people in Europe, so in a way being in a football crazed market like the UK may work against the Switch than for it.

Even if it had every feature, would you be able to play it with all your buddies who have the PS4 version? Would you it have the same exact graphics?

No and no.

That and there's been tremendous damage done to Nintendo's brand for years (decades even) of not having key third party content so at this point, people simply don't expect it. It will take a while for that stigma to be changed.

My friends in the UK who are trying to find a Switch copy are finding it hard to find - apparently more stock is shipping next week so lets see. On a small install base and in an area of the world where Sony reigns I think it's too early to call Fifa 18 Switch a bomb. Worldwide sales should be decent for this title....

EA should've pretended that FIFA is an indie game. Rookie mistake.

lol then I would not have bought it.

Obviously, a game like Fifa18 couldn't compete with a great game like Golf Story on the Switch.

I think Nintendo and EA maybe should've coordinated a bit more. Maybe a Mario Soccer mode would've added value to the package as well.

It's a shame because I'd really love an equivanent NHL 19 for Switch next year, but I doubt it's going to happen if FIFA doesn't do well.

1% of Fifa sales in the UK is still over 50 million copies so that's not bad.
