ok if you take racism as negatively distinguishing between racial groups

is saying that a particular group can do something that another group can't, racist against the latter group?

for sure its not racist against the former group but it certainly would be against the latter i would think ( if you take racism to be negative discrimination based on race )

The definitions can collide, but I don't think just stating that blacks have earned a "right" to say a word is racist, because it's not particularly against anyone (unlike saying: "white people suck, so blacks can be as mean as they want"). It's tricky, for sure, but the whole idea is contingent on intent.

"I don't think just stating that blacks have earned a "right" to say a word is racist"

that isn't what i was reffering to, i was reffering to stating that whites do not have a right to say a word while blacks do... is that not racist?

it would seem to be from your perspective since you then say "it's not particularly against anyone"

That's PewDiePie's humor. He's said way more "pushing the line" jokes. For example, when he played Bayonetta 2 he made a joke about Rodon dressed as black Santa and "stealing the childrens gifts". Millions of people watched it but there was no outrage. Why? Because that one group of easily offended people didn't see it.

Nobody cared about his 'Jews should die' joke either, because it was obviously a joke and it was funny. But then suddenly a journalist wrote an article about it, and numerous people (who hadn't even seen the video) started ranting about him.

This rant makes even less sense, but apparently it's worse to say a bad word than to tell a group of people to die?

I think it's all piling up on him now. Once, maybe people were willing to give it a pass. Twice, something started to smell like fish.

Getting caught on camera live using the hard "er" N-word ... whelp, seems like we've got ourselves a bubbling diet racist stew going.

Gotta get them subscribers

Nazis, racists, alt-righters, bigots and all kinds of scum.

Unfortunately controversy breeds popularity in some cases.

Yet we can't call people fanb*ys on this site because it offends people...

Maybe it's because English isn't my native language, but I really don't get why a simple word can be such a big problem.

How is this a slippery? I never use the word "c*nt" because I find it offensive to some. It'll never "slip" in my language... if it slips it might be because you use it constantly...

Judging by the like/dislike ratio, most people are taking it normally; with humour. I actually believe treating these words in a mundane manner helps to move on from the stigma and release the tension and power to hurt PC people have given them. Look at "sexist" and "racist", for example, they are so overused that they have lost the effect they once had. I mean, they're practically memes now.

There's one group of people that gets to decide when/where/how/why the N-word gets normalized, and it sure as fuck isn't some skinny white doofus from Sweden.

The black community have earned ownership over that word by enduring through slavery and gross forms of racism.

Not you Pewdeepie, you can sit the fuck down. If you want to do something "funny", here's a "funny" idea for a video, record yourself in a neighborhood with black people and you freely using this word, lets see how long it takes before you get knocked unconcious.

Sorry, no, it doesn't work that way. You can't claim ownership of a word or a speech nor you have control of who can say it nor how to interpret it. It's  your right to believe that, but it stops right there.

I don't know about places like America but with my experience it's a pretty commonly used as slang without any real harsh meaning.

I'm not going to take the internet seriously anyway because it tends to very much be an overreaction most of time when it comes to this stuff.

Aah come on people, why people even care, he is just trying to entertain , he might be popular, but he is not that influential. Especially on ideological level. Kid, Teens and adult are smart. He is just an entertainer.

I've seen people try to burn down the internet over saying anything sideways about fucking My Little Pony... but will turn around and tell people to suck it up over racial epithets. Oh, internet.
