If people are itching to say it, go say it in front of a black person. Or better yet, several of them. To a black person I don't think it is. It's fairly equivalent, it takes *that* for a white person to probably understand what it feels like though since there is no real equvalent racial term that has the connotation and history of misery behind it. 

Also, PDP did not say "nigga".

Depending on your personal family history we could up with specific words in context that I'm sure would piss you off (ie: if you have a brother with a mental illness, I'm sure you probably could lose it if you over heard someone joking about him being a nutcase, for example, while that word may mean little to someone else).
