Nope. PS4 is best closely followed by PS3. I saw a thread here recently that confirmed this. It is all about context you see, absolute numbers are for mugs.

Funny, I was in teh thread earlier today about PS4 sales in Japan and someone was claiming how it was such a success and other pointed out how poorly its sales were compared ot like the 3DS, DS, PSP, PS2 and others. That person comes back with something like you can't compare it's success with those systems.

Ha, if you can't compare a systems success against the most successful systems in the region, then what are you comparing it to? The failures? Since it sold more than 10 consoles its a success unlike the XBox? Is that the criteria now?

That person probably was Kerotan, he's a Sony paid spin doctor. He'll make the 37k for crash bandicoot in Japan look like it's the second coming of christ.

Who were you responding to here?

"absolute numbers are for mugs"

Great line, lol!

It's basically a handheld and you are comparing it to PSP which isn't a Nintendo HH and 3DS that is basically the worst selling HH. I'm sure I saw someone in a thread saying that it is bellow mediocre to sell better than your worst selling device even in Japan.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Game Boy Advance was Nintendo's worst selling handheld at 17 million. And Wii U is by far Nintendo's worst selling console period, at 3.3 million. So the 3DS is not even close to being Nintendo's 'worst selling device'. Considering that the 3DS is the third best selling console of all time in Japan, it's laughable to say that the Switch will only have 'mediocre sales' if it matches the 3DS.

So we are changing words to mean what we want and move the target?

Of course you can, taking the market in to context.

So it is possible for the Switch to be one of the fastest selling systems. It will be above the DS and 3DS but below the PS2, GBA Wii. I think 4th fastest selling system is a good title to hold on for the 1st year. However it might not catch up to the DS.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

So pretty much PSP numbers thus far.

Which is impressive, isn't it? PSP did about 20m in Japan. If Switch is tracking so well while still being supply constrained, how high can it go once things settle? It's def something to celebrate. ^_^

It's definitely impressive I just noticed how earily similar those graphs are. The Switch is doing great in Japan and will keep in doing so. Europe is another case however.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I'm a bit confused as to what the difference between the two charts are supposed to be.

The second graph shows the sales curves of different systems than the first one.

Oh Silly me, I was putting too much thought into the "accumulated" part.
