(The post got kinda big, so don't worry too much about reading it all and just drop the goods if you feel like)

I own every single PS home console, but never had one of their handhelds, and never really had an urge to.

Owning a Gameboy Advance and playing a lot of a friend's Gameboy Color, my handheld experience was all about Nintendo up until now, and while I want a New 2DS, who knows when it'll be priced here in a range I find acceptable (it'll likely release at the same price as a PS4 when it coms here and keep pricey for years), but recently with less and less time and playing less and less (basically weekends only) I think getting a handheld might help me get back to a more constant gaming schedule.

As said above, I own all Sony home systems, and Vita exclusive library is pretty restricted and modest, but, giving you guys a hand here, my favorite genre is BY FAR rpgs and that's what the Vita usually gets talked about. I also have a good bunch of already bought games on PS3 and PS4 that would work on it without me having to rebuy them. Also, I would like to try some PSP games like Crisis Core and Peace Walker so that's another plus as the Vita store hold some of them.

Yet, the lack of investment from Sony after a single year, the lacking strong exclusive line up (not even a Gow or GT, though there are those on PSP), the very pricey proprietary cards and lack of physical copies of some games just makes me think getting a Vita may be a waste of money (which is quite a lot of money, as getting and backing even one system in Brazil is expensive as fuck) and it doesn't look it'll add much new games to me.

So, I'm kind of puzzled, meanwhile I think a handheld now would be welcome to my schedule, and after getting a bad experience with buying an used 3DS earlier this year (which will have to be the case with Vita, will have to be used as the few stores that sell it new charge much more than I'm willing to pay) and after the New 2DS got announced it's definitely the one I'll eventually get, I just can't convice myself to invest on the Vita.

After the new Persona 3 dancing game got announced for it, tho, I've found myself searching constantly for used Vitas and games in the internet, solely due to the prospect a Golden like P3 with trophies could get announced for it which would definitely make me want it for real (I don't care about the dancing game).

So I thought about giving you guys a shot at convicing me at getting a Vita, and even as yes, LoD on the go is more than reason enough, I can do that on my phone already, so no easy routes here guys!

Which would be the games truly worth on getting/playing on a Vita and nice RPG (and the like) games that I can only get on it?

Maybe you losers, ahem, Vita onwers, can convince me to get one someway, please, give it a try

It would be a great excuse to spend 200 dollars of your hard earned cash. Also Persona 4 Golden

It's still getting a lot of Japanese support. So if you want a bunch of niche Japanese games it's a fantastic system. LRG also still heavily supports it. It has some amazing RPGs, action games, visual novels, shmups and more.  If that's not your thing then probably best to ignore it. Seeing your avatar, it seems you may enjoy it. I love this system. My number one favorite handheld ever.

Vita is life, Vita is love.

Firmware 3.60 is hacked, so get a Vita with this version, put on a custom firmware, add your favourite emulators, use normal micro SD cards and expand your Vitas gaming library with the last 30 years of gaming history. Enough reasons?

Oh shit, I didn't know that. How hard is it to do? Do you have a video?

You just visit a website with the PS Vita Internet Browser. That's it, job done. If you want to, you can install Henkaku Enso afterwards which saves you from the hassle of hacking the device again after rebooting. Doing that as well as installing other homebrew is made by installing a VPK, kinda like an exe on windows. Really easy, anybody can do it.

For SD cards, you'll need an adapter. You get those for around 5 bucks on Aliexpress or eBay. Be aware that it blocks your Gamecard Slot though.

I have a vita used to love it but I wouldn't recommend it.

Get a switch.

It's a 2010 portable platform with no future support in the Western markets.

There is no impassioned argument to be made for such a device, but:

1. They can be picked up dirt cheap, offset by the fact that proprietary Vita memory cards not only remain overpriced, but are now overpriced far disproportionately to existing NAND memory market prices. The solution is to stick to chip/retail copies of games.

2. Back catalog. Real simple. If there are more than a handful of games (most or all of which should be available cheap as they are old titles), you would have a library of old games playable on a piece of hardware that goes for very little currently.

If one isn't familiar with the back catalog and can't be bothered to look up which fit within their personal preferences, then they should not be buying a Vita.

If you were just looking for a new portable gaming device, you would be better off with a Switch, even with the current limited catalog, assuming any of Nintendo's IPs are within your tastes, which you would know by now without any outside opinions.

Persona 4 golden
Danganronpa games
Trails in the skies part1 and 2 (digital only off of the store)
Child of light
Muramasu
Uncharted golden abyss

Add me if you want but let me know youre from this website

I think you already know if it's worth it for you or not and don't need anyone to convince you. Get the console if you have a decent amount of games you would like to play or enjoy handhelds in general. It's a good piece of hardware

Don`t. Spend the money on something (literally anything!) else instead

Anything ... like Wii U for example
