Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Capcom: Monster Hunter XX Switch version is another test to evaluate our support for Switch

Ultra Street Fighter II was seen by Capcom as a sort of test run for the Switch – the company has said that its sales numbers would influence their future support for the platform. The game has exceeded Capcom’s expectation, selling about 450,000 copies worldwide so far. However, it seems Capcom is not quite done testing the Switch yet. During a Q&A session at their recent financial results meeting for the past quarter, someone inquired about Capcom’s future support for the Switch given Ultra Street Fighter II’s success. Here’s what Capcom had to say:

"The Nintendo Switch seems to be doing very well, and we look forward to further growth in its install base. Beginning with Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) Nintendo Switch Ver. for Japan, we are evaluating how we will support this platform in the future."

Welp, good bye Capcom Switch support we hardly knew ya. But if full priced remasters of 3DS games is what you trying to get us to buy it's probably for the best, especially if your not even going to bother to bring the game to the west. Hopefully you've got something else up your sleeve for Switch.

I think it's cute how only Nintendo's home consoles get this "evaluate" treatment. And by cute, I mean "hilarious".
At least it's MonHun, the chance of low returns with this thing is quite small..

Oh, fuck off, Capcom. People bought your overpriced port even when you were going to release a much more complete game on the other platforms, and now a 3DS remaster is used as more leverage for the Switch's support, even when the game has sold more than 4m in japan alone between the original 3DS version and the update?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Who cares if there not going to bring the game to the west. They'll bring the superior version with more content in the west like they always do ...

I still think their going to release Monster Hunter games in the future for the Switch cause Japan is still the biggest market yet for that game ... (Unless Monster Hunter World takes off for the PS4 in Japan but it's still too easy money once we consider how low production value the series has been for quite a while and could still get away with it for the Switch.)

Capcom knows it can take advantage of this situation since the Switch isn't backwards compatible with the 3DS ...

Yeah as in make some fucking games stop porting shite kinda test. Makes sense.

But this is the superior version, they brought X to the west but not XX which is this. Unless they're making a version called Monster Hunter XXX...

And while I think they know that, I just don't think they should still be expecting anything too crazy. The only way this game will be a huge success is if Nintendo make like 200k of them Monster Hunter Switch bundles.

Oh, fuck you Capcom.I hope this freaking bombs so that you stop blackmailing us with this "evaluation" games.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

That's one too many X's ...

Nobody seems to care about the story in these games so they can make a sequel without too much fuss since most of the content seem to be reskins if they don't bring the superior version to the west ...

It's not like capcom has normal expections for this port anyways (Or do they ?) and the customers eat up these near annualized releases like crazy anyways ... (2013 - MH4, 2014 - MH4U, 2015 - MHX, 2017 - MHXX and all of them 2+M units in Japan LOL and then we have MHW in 2018)

Capcom probably has realistic expectations ... (They don't want to bundle anyways since that would lower their profits.)

Real cute Capcom, real cute

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

At least oing off the COMG pre-order performance, people don't seem interested in buying the same game they've bought twice on the 3DS now again. Especially with MonHun Worlds on the horizon.

Well, let capcom shoot themselves in the leg. A proper MonHun on Switch would go gangbusters in Japan, especially since Ninty is surpporting it with Pokemon.
