I don´t understand why people would be upset with the list. After all, this is just subjective.
On the other side, the 04 all time highest-ranked games on Gamerankings are on the list, so it´s not a tottally faulty list at all, at least too me. I just think that GTA V and FF VII hould be on this, but anyway....

Breath of the Wild is the best game I have ever played.

While Ocarina of Time was good, it had issues with several overly long dungeons dragging the pace of the game down; Forest Temple was perfect, but then places like the Shadow Temple, Water Temple, and Fire Temple were great in concept/atmosphere, but were too slow. Link to the Past and Breath of the Wild were superior on that front - both games had more dungeons/temples, and were much faster/better paced and designed. Also, Ocarina of Time, despite being way smaller than Breath of the Wild, felt way emptier and more repetitive. The other issue with Ocarina of Time is you never get to stare out over Hyrule, Breath of the Wild gives you that ability from many different locations.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Right, which is why I said he shouldn't have included 3 Zelda games ... I mean at least try to add some more 3rd parties, most of thes are Nintendo.

But when he first made the polls, people were complaining about the lack of Nintendo games (if there's only one Nintendo game on the list, it's a very easy win for that game, since all Nintendo fans vote for it).

And the thing with Zelda is, the franchise is so diverse and most of the games are of very high quality.

I'm glad someone noticed. I was pushed to include more Nintendo, and these polls are for the community, not me.

That's because Nintendo makes the best games ever!

With that statement, you are on the right site!

I already mentioned which would be my winner.

My top 5 as I've entered them in the end-of-the-year threads is;
1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
2. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
3. Super Mario 64
4. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
5. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

Seems Nintendo-heavy, but the whole list was about 60/40 (or well, I guess 30/20 since there are 50 games) in favor of non-Nintendo games. It's just that their top games are so brilliant. Also it's funny that your polls only have one game from my top 5, my top 10 even, the winner.

I almost included Yoshis Island. Maybe next time.

Witcher 3 should have made this poll...

Anyway, it amazes me to see such old games make this list. That's like saying a Ford Model A is a better car than a Bugatti Veyron. Sure, they might have more retro appeal, be a lot of fun and bring back good memories, but technically speaking newer games are better games.

Incorrect. Technology is better, but older games were often more creative, challenging, and the 2D hand drawn art had charm that polygons lack. Of course there are newer games that are better than older games too, but this is on a case by case basis.

Ocarina of Time would be my pick because I still have to play Breath of the Wild. And of course Zelda is well represented: it's the best gaming series of all time. ^^

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Seriously? Three Zelda games?

Well, I'm voting for The Last of Us.

Of the ones listed, either The Last of Us or Final Fantasy VII, followed by A Link to the Past and Super Metroid. Still, none of the games here are in my top 5, or even top 10 favourite games of all time.

Are you a fan of Legend of Dragoon too?! There is another guy that seems obsessed with it! What would your top 5 be? Some may be in the older polls.

Can't an old car be prettier than a new one?

Exactly, friend.

Zelda BotW fo sho

Well, it seems the majority agree with you.

So when do you decide who's won, when does."voting close". I'm pretty happy with results, I would put TLOU,OoT and BotW top anways, throw in some GTA and it's pretty much nipped

I will announce the poll end time after I'm done here! I will put "Update." in the title. Grand Theft Auto 5 was in the first poll, but lost.

I don't even think that's bad necessarily, but 3 fucking Zelda games! And the mediocrity known as Super Mario Galaxy, blegh.

The lack of Dark Souls, Halo, Banjo Kazooie, Doom, and Dorito's Crash Course practically disqualifies this list

What kind of nonsense? Who in their right mind could say that?

The only thing I think is off with these polls is that BotW is doing so well. Some sort of recency bias, I would say. The rest of the options make some type of sense. (Especially SMG.)

That's an awful poll, I am sorry but there is no other way to describe it...
And without being rude, the result shows how dumb a big part of the VGChartz community is imo. Of course Breath of the Wild got the most points because it's the most recent recent release of them.

That "most recent" theory has occurred to me. Maybe if I do it again, I will put a one year old limitation in the polls. As for the list being awful, I did not hand pick this list. I largely went on what the community suggested. I'm not even a Nintendo fan.

From that list, Super Mario Galaxy, though Breath of the Wild is pretty close. There is 1 Zelda game I'd rate higher than Galaxy, but that wasn't on the list.

Which one would that be?

The lack of the Witcher 3 and the presence of Skyrim is sad. CD project > Bugthesda every day. Especially since Skyrim was pretty boring and the gameplay was bad.

This x1000

I have never played Skyrim. I prefer JRPGs. But I'm curious. I checked out the metacritic scores for Skyrim and it rated well pretty consistently. So why do you guys say it's bad?

Overall, great job with this list! It's not strange at all with so many Zelda since they are consistently amazing. The only game I really missed was Panzer Dragoon Saga, otherwise, awesome list.

Thank you. So many complaints! I find it impossible to please everyone. I went largely on community suggestions. This is for the community over me. I had thought about Panzer Dragoon Saga. Maybe next time!

You can do it OoT, show BotW who's boss.
