Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Song of Memories heading to Switch

Pure Wish created an adventure game Song of Memories and brought it out in Japan earlier this year as a PlayStation 4 title. That same game is now coming to Switch.

Song of Memories is an adventure game where a mysterious disease is going around. Animation is sprinkled throughout the story, from conversation scenes to event scenes. Over 30 songs are in the game, including the opening, ending, and background music.

The Switch version of Song of Memories launches in Japan later this year. It will come with Japanese, English, and French language options.

It’s unclear if Song of Memories will be available outside of Japan. But in any case, English will be an option.

Wait, what?! Is that really how they describe it? Just an "adventure game"? This is the first time I've ever seen this game, but even I can tell it's some sort of visual novel.

Switch AKA the Vita 2, the perfect machine for weebs

Switch really has turned into The Vita as expected. It's getting those kinds of games and I think it's great. Not a visual novel person really but so many niche type games on NS makes me happy and now Nicalis is giving a bunch of indie games physical versions. NIS is giving NS some extensive collector edition games as well. I really think this is Nintendo's first console since SNES that has true success not reliant on some new control gimmick and getting after thought support. NS is getting real support. Sorry I had to express myself lol.

Apparently the disease is anime girls being compelled to wear too much clothing. I hope they can solve that tragedy.

In Japanese terminology, a distinction is often made between visual novels (abbreviated NVL, derived from visual NoVeL), which consist predominantly of narration and have very few interactive elements, and adventure games (abbreviated AVG, or ADV derived from ADVenture), a form of adventure gamewhich may incorporate problem-solving and other types of gameplay. This distinction is normally lost outside Japan, where both NVLs and ADVs are commonly referred to as "visual novels" by international fans.

It might very well be an adventure game. It's a mystery after all so it could have some puzzles.

Indeed that seems to be the crown it is set to inherit...

Unclear if available outside Japan -> why translate to English and French if not?

Happens all the time tbh. There are several instances of games being translated into English, but never leaving Japan/Asia.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."
