It's really weird that Fire Emblem is the Nintendo mobile game that sees success. I'm surprised that Super Mario Run and Animal Crossing aren't pulling in as much revenue... then again Fire Emblem has the Waifu advantage and lord knows that has gotten me to spend some money on the game lol.

So I sold my copy of Mario+Rabbids about a month ago because I wanted to buy the Gold Edition which comes with the DK content. I wanted to have it on a cart. I bought it today. Opened it up and find the cart and a downloadable code for the DK content. Fucking hell, Ubisoft. There was no indication that it would be downloadable. No info about it on the box at all. No respect for gamers at all. Its pretty much a scam the whole thing. Why even release a gold edition. I paid more for this than if I had kept the original game and downloaded the season pass...

Now we can confirm Prime is not canon and never was despite what some fans tried to argue.

I started playing Fire Emblem Echoes again because I haven't completed it yet and goddamn! The map design is so bad! Just fields with copy-paste trees all over the place. The gameplay is also a step down from Fates, Awakening and even Heroes imo. Does the map design get better later on? Im on act 3 btw.

Don't let old school fans hear you say that.

No, it gets worse with starting positions that heavily favor the enemies.

Yeah, the starting positions are questionable. I just got done a map where I faced 2 of the antagonists and a rando. My whole team was scattered at 3 points of the map. 1/3 of my team was useless because all 3 of the guys made a beeline for Alm and the rest of my team was too far away to do anything. So the starting positions get worse from there too?!

Also, the EXP gains become so abysmal that you'll rarely get the satisfaction of a level up. You'll kill hundreds of enemies that net your characters 1-4 EXP. Echoes is easily the worst console Fire Emblem game that has been released outside of Japan.

Yeah, i'm feeling this now. I've gained so little experience during battles that I thought I was over leveled or something, Not to mention even when I do level up, the stat boosts are abysmal.

The story and presentation is good, but everything concerning  gameplay is pretty bad tbh. I'll take my waifu's, good gameplay and incredibly mediocre story over this Fire Emblem anyday. Ah well i'll just power through it.

To be honest you should have expected as much in 2018. Did you at least look it up extensively?

Sakamoto has always said this though, if it was up to his words then Prime was never canon. That said, he calls them "different stories", that doesn't mean one is canon and one isn't, just that they're separate, like two alternate universes. Personally I like that explanation, it's actually the way I always saw it. No universal timeline between all games ever made much sense to me.

You're mixing up canon and lore he says they're not only different series but the stories have no connection meaning they're stand alone from each other, it's like comic books where you can have different variants of X-men but they have nothing to do with each other's worlds and stories yeah they all draw from the same lore but are stand alone.

As far as things go Prime is not canon to his work from his own words.

Yeah but that's my point. It's not that 2D Metroid is canon and Prime isn't, they're just separate stories really. Since they're both about as relevant as each other, it makes no sense to call only one "canon" when they're both relevant, it's best to just accept them as different series with their own canon each.

...which as I said, is how I like it. I never bought the whole "Samus does 34908 missions between Metroid 1 and 2" thing, so I'm good with this.

That's the thing only the main timeline games are the only games that are relevant that's what he has effectively established, Prime is its own thing and what happens in it has no bearing on non Prime games that means it's not canon, it may draw from the same lore and do its own version of things but the is no direct connection in any way to the other games other than they're the same franchise.

Continuity with this in mind will make understanding future games easier.

How extensively am I supposed to look. It doesn't say it on the box or any of the commercials. Switch games have that "Download Required" thing if you need to.
