Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Predict the Switch's 2018 lineup

When will we see Animal Crossing for the Switch?

2018 66 63.46%

2019 28 26.92%

2020 4 3.85%

2021 0 0%

2022 6 5.77%

Total:104

We have an idea on what Nintendo's plan is for 2017. Now, it's time to predict the future!

Confident

1. Metroid Prime 4

2. Pikmin 4

3. Kirby

4. Main series Fire Emblem

5. Yoshi

6. Some sort of remake/remaster

Unsure:

1. Main series Pokemon

2. Animal Crossing (perhaps for 2019)

3. Smash 4 port

4. Mario and Luigi for Switch

5. Paper Mario 5

Unlikely:

1. Donkey Kong

2. Kid Icarus: Uprising sequel

3. Luigi's Mansion

4. Bayonetta 3

5. Mario Kart (2019/2020)

6. Smash 5 (2020)

7. Starfox (it'll take a while to fix the damage of Zero- that is, if it can even be fixed)

Probably never:

1. F-Zero

2. Golden Sun

3. Anything related to VR

4. Ice climbers

Lol MP4 is 2019 at the earliest.

2018 lineup:

1. Pokemon (will be their big E3 2018 game, like Zeruda 2016, Mario 2017)

2. Pikmin 4

3. Kirby

4. Main series Fire Emblem

5. Yoshi

6. Animal Crossing

7. Tons of remasters (Smash 4 Deluxe, Mario Sunshine HD Bloom

2019 lineup:

-New DKC

-Metroid Prime 4

-Tomodachi Life 2

-Luigi's Mansion 3

Why unsure about Pokemon? It's basically a yearly franchise, isn't it?

I respectfully disagree with a bit if the stuff you stated.
There is little to no chance that MP4 is coming before 2019.
I think Donkey Kong is very likely especially since Retro are confirmed not to be working on MP4, and its been three years since they released tropical freeze.

I totally agree with the rest

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Kirby
Yoshi
FE 2018
Pikmin 4
Smash Deluxe
Super Mario Maker Deluxe

Animal Crossing
A New IP (similar to Arms and Splatoon which focuses on Online multiplayer)
Luigi Mansion 3

Monster Hunter
Mario Party

DK

It does have the occasional off years (most recently in 2011 and 2015), and one could only imagine the first HD Pokémon game would take much longer to develop than usual, besides the way they talked about made it seem like it's pretty early in development. Since the Switch game would probably be a new Pokémon generation too, it also makes sense for them to give it another year.
I predict it'll come out summer 2019.

I see.  I figured Nintendo would want it to anchor their line-up in the second year.  Then again, they don't actually control Pokemon development.

For Sure:
Kirby
Yoshi
Animal Crossing (Japan)
Fire Emblem (Japan)

Most Likely:
Pikmin 4
Smash 4 Deluxe
Retro's new game (Either Donkey Kong Country or a new IP)

Maybe:
Animal Crossing (International)
Luigi's Mansion 3
Tomodachi game for Switch

Unlikely:
Bayonetta 3
New Kid Icarus
Fire Emblem (International)

No Way In Hell:

Metroid Prime 4
Pokemon Gen 8

Kirby
Yoshi
Beyonneta 3
Smash remake
Animal Crossing
Pokémon Stars
Mario Party
Pikmin 4
Luigi Mansion 3

Well, it usually is, but sometimes they take longer than expected to make a new game. It took some time to make a 3D Pokemon game for the 3DS, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they end up delaying it to improve the series.

Who's working on Prime 4 then?

Well, by this time last year, the only game we knew would be on NX was zelda.
Seems that devlopment is faster than wii U's, but i dont think metroid will be ready.

well, kirby, yoshi, FE
Animal crossing, switch party(wii party like), super mario maker switch, a mario sport game(either golf, tenis, strikers, sport mix), warioware, smash switch(4 port, but with 10 newcomers, and a switch mode), kid icarus
