Hmm lets see here. Bringing the gaming communities together and playing as one sounds like a very good idea to me. Increasing the life span of MP games by keeping the populations strong is another. Haha i cant believe that's even a question.

Even Nintendo is on board. Thats a rarity in itself and this guy says the Industry is strong when Nintendo is strong.

You ask why now? Because we live in the present not the past.

In the present, Xbox One users are unable to play FF 14 and War Thunder because Microsoft would not allow them to use merged servers.  That's not just being unable to play with people on another platform, that's being unable to play the game at all, which hurts the players and the developers.

If you're mad about what Sony had done then you should be absolutely furious about what Microsoft has done, which affects players still today.

Who said i am sticking up for MS's decisions with the 360?

You know what makes the industry strong Ryan? Allowing cross-play between all systems.

That sounds like it only makes Xbox stronger. There's no advantage there for Sony. Why doesn't anyone call out MS for not making copies of Minecraft the same on all platforms without forcing people into XBL? And I don't want to hear about devoting resources because they literally have all of them. MS is a third-party developer since the purchase of Minecraft, they should be pro-consumer and make sure the game is the same experience no matter where it is.

Hmm let me see... because its MS's own game being sold on PS4. Should MS stop supporting Minecraft on PS4 if Sony isnt supporting them back?

Atleast Nintendo gets it and respects it.

Nintendo just is happy to get a third party game of that size, so they'll play ball. And yes, it is MS's game on PS4, so why shouldn't they do right by it instead of strongarming their network onto that userbase? What's more important, the customers that bought the game? Or spreading XBL to PS4? If both parties feel that strongly about it, what does that say about the future of Minecraft on PS4? Should they let it go to the wind?

"Wii60" era? How does a writer for a video-game publication not know that the PS3 regularly outsold the 360?

wii60 was a real thing back then, do a research and you will see that wii60 was "the perfect combination"

"why should I buy a ps3 when I can buy a wii and a 360 for that kind of money!?" that's wii60.

Yep. When I first came here I was in the Wii60 movement. It was fun while it lasted. Once sonys exclusives came out and the price dropped the jokes were over. Lol to deny all of those exclusives was inhumane.

Explain how crossplay make the industry stronger and why only now

because it only counts when MS are miles behind the competition and need it more then the competition does. crossplay on current ps4 games i own doesnt benefit me at all and i switch off the ability to play against pc players.

That must be it

I would like to hear this also. We didn't have widespread crossplay the last ten years, so what makes [current year] special?

Well, you saw the reasoning

Bringing them together doesn't exactly makes the industry stronger... Nintendo instead of selling 15M selling 100M I can see the market being bigger and the industry strong, so please try again to show how the industry would grow, because MP games staying relevant longer doesn't necessarily turns into much bigger profits and market.

And why does this "all together" needs to be everyone using a Live account?

And when is MS going to accept PSN accounts on their system? And when is MS going to put all 3rd party games as play with everyone?

I wonder if this could be said for almost anything else?

The industry is strong when Microsoft is strong, the industry is strong when Atari is strong.

Nope... the impact of MS or Atari strong isn't nearly the same as Nintendo since the first is basically similar to Sony and Atari doesn't even is relevant to the same level anymore.

In the US, the 360 was the number one selling console of the 7th generation. It murdered the PS3 the US. It wasn't even close.

And the PS3 murdered the 360 outside of the US. The world is more than just 1 country ya know

I dunno, I only know about globally in USA

Mate regradless how you spin it. The industry becomes alot more healthier whether you think cross play is worth it or not. Everyone playing togother and keeping online populations high benefits all gamers. It adds attraction to products and lasting appeal.

The fact your sticking up for Sonys decision amazes me.

If Sony released an IP on a MS console than id expect MS to do the exact same thing since its Sonys game.

The fact Sony allowed users to sign into Steam accounts on the PS3 to play games like Portal 2 cross play shows that Ryans excuse is far fetched and embarrassing.

MS did it in the past too however guess what, its not 2012, its 2017 with new leadership. Its time we move past this greed and become a whole as a gaming community.

My brother hates Xbox but owns a Switch. He was quite happy to see that he can play Minecraft with me and i dont even need to buy a Switch copy of Minecraft. Thats the true *For the Gamers*

We need more of that.

Basically agreed.

Sony , MS , Sega , Atari are the same kind.

i agree Phil Ryan
