Forums - Gaming Discussion - Atari is coming back with a new console! Would you buy?

I'm surprised more of the media hasn't been reporting on this. IGN and other video game media haven't said anything about it. This thing will fail unless people get the word out. The fact that they are still making anything is amazing given the fact that they were bankrupt just four years ago.

Next time I'm at my parents' place I was planning on raiding my uncle's garage and stealing his old wood grain Atari 2600 we used to play as kids. Gosh that was a fun console.

This was in the mid 90s though. Had a Sega MSII but still played the Atari.

Sony and Nintendo own the handheld and console markets. Them (along with Microsoft) will make any newcomers a complete failure

it would be interesting if they made an old school Atari console like the NES classic which nintendo sold out instantly on.

it could be a hit. they would sell maybe 10 million units on nastagla alone. 99 bucks for the classic system redone in a new package.

ummm they already do make one and have been doing so for years, it is called Atari Flashback (current version is Atari flashback 7), comes with 101 games builtin and costs less than $100 (in Aus it is $89 AUD)

I'm sure it isn't going to be a real console.  Also, obviously it will fail, Atari can't support a console, they can't even make real games anymore.  Whatever it ends up being, you are going to be disappointed.  You should be ready for that...
