Forums - Gaming Discussion - Konami STILL blacklisting Hideo Kojima and ex-employees

Japanese culture is based on honour and they hate being shamed or humiliated. Kojima shamed Konami by ridiculing the new MGS game they were developing. Openly talking about your ex-employee is a big no-no in Japanese culture.

Yes, it's petty, but no, I'm not surprised.

I don't blame him considering they treated him like shit. If my former employer locked me up while working for them, then you better believe I'd talk shit, too. They're in NO position to blame their sullied reputation on Kojima considering all they shit they've pulled on the gaming industry in just the last 2 years alone.

But yeah, I don't think there's ANY doubt as to who's in the wrong on the whole Kojima-Konami debacle now.

Fuck Konami.

This is next level petty.

It is part or Japanese culture to not speak ill of the company you work/worked for or th conditions in which you left. Kojima did just that, so this is a retaliation against that. KONAMI is not right for this, BUT neither is Kojima. Both parties need to shut up and move on.

Many people have left Konami in the last few months. The konami-boss would like to change on smarthphone lol

The real question is: what did Kojima do? Why does Konami hate him so much?

Spent way too much money on every game he touched.

I'll be honest now, when I see Konami's logo on games I tend to add that in the pro/con list of buying it or not. Shit like this trying to make peoples lives hard because they had enough of your shit, that's just sad.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

So much salt @ Konami ... talking about honor and then doing this ... get over it!!

Someone already answered this, but the issue was Kojima was spending too much. MGS5 had spent $80 million and it wasn't even finished. The game was planned to have more in it. Plus, you get rid of the long time voice actor to have a more expensive, more famous actor voice the character. It is these kinds of decisions that I'm sure Konami was not too pleased with. Moreover, the game probably wouldn't have sold as much if there wasn't controversy surrounding it. Konami pulled the plug on the project for that reason.

A lot of people love Kojima, but I'd say he's very overrated (not that he deserved the treatment from Konami). I expect Death Stranding will be a big surprise for Sony.

Hideo Kojima has only made the first chapter in MGS5. The rest he was in a room and worked on the real end and the sequences - without his team. This is in the solution book and was also a news in the past. He also wanted another story for Phantom Pain, but Konami wanted to repeat missions in Chapter 2 and no "outer heaven/zanzibar"-stuff. Chapter 3 was completely deleted. Hideo Kojima wanted to return the "Ground Zero" prison in Phantom Pain, but no chance - konami wanted it not :( really sad.

The production costs were so high, because the game was developed on 4 systems (with pc? Then 5). The team had to share, there were difficulties. The biggest reason, however, is that Konami wanted to decide how the story goes -.- MGS5 could have become incredible (like MGS 1-4), but so ..

It is no wonder that so many employees have gone. Not just people from the MGS team, many other developers of Konami also.
