Sony was one big trash fire. They needed to show how they were going to break out of the TV box.

...Why? The PS4 is the most successful console of the decade. People like what they're offering. Why would they need to fix what isn't broken?

First, you can't say it's "the most successful system of the decade" when the 3DS has still sold more than it.

Sony's problem is that their model won't work in the future. The newest generation isn't watching TV. TV viewership has been declining for years. TV ownership is also in decline. You can't survive as console maker when you are tied to the TV? Moreover, the iphone 7 was released in 2007. If you are 10 today, you have never lived in a world without mobile computing. These kids are going to be in the prime buying age in a generation or two. How is Sony going to sell to a generation raised on smartphones?

Nintendo Switch was Nintendo's answer to the changing demographics. Nintendo is perfectly fine and is being greatly rewarded for it. Sony isn't. The longer they wait, the worse it will be for them.

First, you can't say it's "the most successful system of the decade" when the 3DS has still sold more than it. Pardon, give it a few months, then.

Sony's problem is that their model wont work in the future. Clearly is right now. The newest generation isn't watching TV. TV viewership has been declining for years. Traditional, maybe, streaming is bigger than ever. TV ownership is also in decline. You can survive as console maker when you are tied to the TV? Who says they are? You can plug a console into a monitor or headset too and their online services are growing every day. Moreover, the iphone 7 was released in 2007. If you are 10 today, you have never lived in a world without mobile computing. These kids are going to be in the prime buying age in a generation or two. How is Sony going to sell to a generation raised on smartphones? By selling to the same generation raised on Netflix. Not sure how that affects Sony any more than Nintendo, either; I'm part of a generation that's never lived in a world without handhelds and yet look what system is dominating right now.

Nintendo Switch was Nintendo's answer to the changing demographics. Nintendo is perfectly fine and is being greatly rewarded for it. Sony isn't. Sony's already being greatly rewarded for their efforts, in case you haven't noticed. The longer they wait, the worse it will be for them. But they're not waiting. PS+, PS Now, PSVR, PS Vue, Sony is readying themselves for the shift when it eventually comes while also delivering more of what has always made PS successful in the meantime. Shrink as they will, TV's aren't going away any time soon much like handhelds or desktops won't entirely disappear.

First, 3DS is not a console so thats an odd statement. Second, PS4 will have outsold it by the fall as they currently stand at 60.4 million WW.

And as for tv declining, that's totally irrelevant as PS4 is still seller faster than PS2 which is the best selling console of all time.

Third, you simply sound angry.

1. Nintendo
2. Sony
3. Microsoft

counting all conferences:
1. Nintendo
2. Ubisoft
3. DEVOLVER DIGITAL
4. Sony
5. Microsoft
6. Bethesda
7. PC Gaming Show
8. EA

I almost always say Sony...and granted they showed lots of awesome stuff... But Nintendo wins with all the great new titles they announced.

Metroid Prime 4 was almost I needed, but they just kept giving!

Handheld consoles are, surprisingly enough, still consoles

Really don't get the TVs are dying therefore PS5 will fail thing though. I mean... WTF? Where do you even get something like that?

It's called his ass. 😉

The thing that won E3.

1:Nintendo
2:Sony/Microsoft tied
4:Bethesda
5:Ubisoft
6:EA

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

I am genuinely curious how Sony was too safe while Nintendo won when Nintendo was only showing off and talking about the next games in their established IP lines while Sony had new IP on display as well as their established lines?

what was the new IP? I might've missed something, God of War looked better than it was, Spidey as well, but we knew about those already.

Even if we knew about it, its still a new IP.  Days Gone, Moss, The Inpatient, and Detroit are also new IPs they showed at their conference.

Nintendo had 0 new IPs in their conference.
