Mostly a good assesment; however I disagree on one thing about your opinion : nintendo's directs. Ninty WON E3 2014 cause of it, and did great in 2015 as well. Ninty doesn't need a press conferance. If anything they 'skipped' last E3 by NOT doing a direct.

About ninty droughts, that is going to be FAR less likly this gen because most of ninty's resources will go to switch and switch alone. We are basically going to have double the output from them.

Also one detail: sony is going to start to REALLY trail behind in japan. With there being no new handheld in sight, sony's gradp on the japanese market is going to plummet drastically. The ps4 was just a wii U competitor there trying to catch up untill it did... last october, when the switch was announced. In the portable dominated japanese market, it might just get most smaller japanese devs to switch over. After all where will all the vita games go, ps4? No.

"Ninty did great in 2015 as well"

Sorry, but no. That conference was freakin awful. That puppet thing was insanely dumb, and Starfox Zero was probably the worst game to head their show with. Everything else was basically just short trailers for games we already knew about, and some junk about Skylanders.

Nintendo is doing a press conference at another time. E3 has been losing relevance for a decade now. Gamescom is a significantly larger expo as well, and Nintendo brings more to that for users to play than they do to E3.

Again, it is a myth that Nintendo has to have a press conference at E3, it will have zero effect on their bottom line other than wasting money, resources, and announcing/promoting stuff too early. The Switch's success would likely have been hurt if Nintendo announced it at E3 rather than when they did.

And "cowardice" as an explanation, I know gangs, cartels, and crime are around, but I don't think Los Angeles is THAT dangerous of a city. That's what I am assuming you meant because being too cowardly to waste time and resources on an increasingly less relevant event is an even dumber explanation.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I am a Nintendo Fan and i am drifting more and more to The Pc because of the truth in your words about Nintendo. E3 is not a place to show us games which will be released in the next 6 month. It is more to show a Sneak peek about the upcomming yeara of a system or a company. We all knew while the FF7 remake Trailer that it could also come to the ps5, but thats not the Point. Its about Hyping your Label to push more people to buy a product. Nintendo has their Directs to show what will come in the next month. They are doing the opposite. They are showing at the Directs future games and at E3 they are taking their 25-30 mins for games in 2017. That is stupid. No one of the ps4/xbox players is watching a direct. They are watching E3. That is the place to hype. I had hope for the switch. But i have lost the faith again. An upradable Dock would change my mind. Zelda deserves 4k and not 900p.

Sigh...

Cmon man. Aren't you a little disappointed that they aren't even showing up?

Ea's conference reminded me why I enjoy Nintendo's digital events. With Nintendo you get like a minute of Reggie at the beginning then it's just trailer, bit of gameplay, 30 second interview, another trailer, boom done over in 30-45 minutes. I greatly prefer that over a bunch of suits going on and on and on about the player or random YouTubers or whatever the hell ea was doing for FIFA 18

Probably because the OP has a history of talking negatively about Nintendo, and I'm using the term 'negatively' very liberally.

If the OP could word his post better, sure we could have a nice debate, but no, he had to title the thread 'Nintendo's Cowardice/Cheapness'. He probably could have triggered people less is if he didn't be 'nice' and just not mention Nintendo.

That is his opinion and he is entitled to it. He doesn't have to word it better unless it infringes on forums rules.

This happens alot with Nintendo fans. Stop getting triggered so easily! It's really boring. Different people have different opinions. Just live with it. You can show your own opinion and have the same effect.

Personally, seeing the triggered reactions are much more exciting, but that's my opinion. In fact, this whole thread has been a whole opinion on opinion. Triggered opinions are still opinions, no need to discredit them. But fine, here's my opinion on the OP:

Microsoft: Show some console exclusives on Xbone and don't spend too long on Scorpio

Sony: I can't think of anyway they can eff it up, maybe less focus on VR and show games with a release date

Nintendo: Show a surprise game that has not been leaked

They have the second largest space at E3 and they are hiding?

Considering your past posts concerning Nintendo it's clear as a day your not a fan. And you dont have to, but you are just trying to be silly now.

OP has harmful opinions! LOL

Anyways, I agree with the assessment of Sony & Nintendo, but don't think the MS read is quite accurate.

* So long as Sony puts forth effort, their marketshare will be maintained.

* Nintendo has plenty of space for E3 attendees while folks at home get a Direct. These prerecorded presentations are like frozen dinners - safe & convenient, but lack the raw energy of live audience reaction; they feel like long commercials rather than Nintendo putting on a show.

* I think MS is concerned about their marketshare, but hopeful that gamers will buy a new console to get the tippy top best versions of western multiplats and the Xbox trinity. They are in the shadow of greatness and wondering if another company will not only catch up but overtake them as well. Basically they need to knock this shit out of the park if they want to stay #2, but they'll survive as #3.

I forgot that having the biggest showfloor, multiple tourmaments & a 3 day livestream dont count as showing up.

Nintendo choosing to not go for a traditional press conference does not mean that they are skipping E3. If they were truly doing that, they wouldn't be there at all (no Treehouse, no tournaments, no nothing).

I understand that they are making a small effort, but look at Microsoft. They are up first, with the most to lose. But they are boldly making an effort with a long press conference, not a video. I respect that.

First of all, Microsoft is always first. It has nothing to do with being bold. It's just scheduling. Second, Microsoft does what they do because it is a traditional American business strategy to have this big show and to try and sell a message just like a church preacher. Nintendo's approch is more online-centric. They know people will get the necessary information regardless of the format of the presentation. Third, Nintendo still has a booth at E3. They still meet with developers, retailers, industry insiders, and everybody they're supposed to meet at E3.

Finally, many people including myself prefer the video format because we get to know all about the games without all the BS that comes with a live presentation.

Yeah not having a conference with 95% of stuff no one cares about or listen to is cheap and hiding.

Nintendo was really hiding last year......
