I'm thinking about to buy a rx 480 to mine until I got it for "free". so for a free upgrade.. but don't know what to do after that. only problem is that every 480 / 580 is sold out.

Please explain what this means for BTC; is it for mining?

ya for mining eth. I propably need to mine 2 months to get my investment back. everything after that would be extra money.

I don't know much about them, but aren't they still reliant on actual currency? You can sell and buy bitcoins only because there are those who are willing to trade American dollars for them, I think?

No, you could trade some servcies and goods for them. But only few vendors accept Bitcoin.

Well, Wikipedia says:

"In 2015, the number of merchants accepting bitcoin exceeded 100,000."

What is the process like? How much did it cost you to get into it, too?

well you need a computer and to pay the electricity bill. on my current one I would get almost nothing because the power consumption is too much. on the rx 480 (if every information is correct) I will get 157 euro for running it all day for a month. 37 euro electricity bill so about 120 euro win. for mining you just need a mining software and a eth wallet (which you can get everywhere in seconds). on sites like kraken.com you can exchange eth into euro. or keep it and hope that it rise more (like it do all the time). the power cost in germany is extremly high, I'm sure you would get more money in any other country.

but right now every 470, 480, 570, 580 is sold out .. and mining is the only reason for that.
