Hmmm..there are HDR ready HDMI switches out there too, a couple of those could be able to deal with the problem too.

You could route the PS4 pros HDMI signal into the Switch (1) and then have it go to the next Switch (2) connect it to the TV from there (thus only taking up one of your HDR ready HDMI ports on the TV), and have the other connection going from Switch (1) other port to the VR box and from there to the Headset (and possibly into Switch (2) and back into the TV as well, not sure if that would be neccissary).

Pretty sure Switch (1) would have to be a manual Switch for that to work though and it might degrade picture quality anyways to route it through two Switches, not too sure on that one. Theoretically you should end up with the non-HDR signal at the headset and the HDR signal at the TV and be able to Switch between the two.

It's been a while since I've looked but, at the time when I got my Pro (day one last year), an HDR switch was like half a grand!

If you could link me to one at a reasonable price (Not just 4k compatible, HDR compatible!) I'll buy it! I'm already using splitters to run my satellite into my Xbox One and TV at the same time and I managed to Kinect pretty much every 7th and 8th gen console to one TV despite having about 4 HDMI ports but this HDR issue stumped me.

My setup: https://youtu.be/Z4j6dXUJBYw

So, I've done a quick google search, so no guarantees, but this bi-directional manual Switch seems to get the job done accoring to people trying it out with the PS4 pro: https://sewelldirect.com/2x1-or-1x2-hdmi-bi-directional-switch-with-hdcp-passthrough

Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00629NHW6/ref=twister_B06XGGQZ53?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 (the official Amazon description says 4@30hz but people in the rewiews are reporting 4@60hz so it might be better to go through the offical link)

Thats the Switch people have been recommentding on Neogaf too. People on there seem to also feed the signal from the VR box back to the TV (not completely sure why) so it takes up two HDMI ports on the TV, a second Switch should solve that for you.

Is the smaller monitor strickly PC? Because if you want your ps4 signal to go to a 4k TV as well as a non 4k monitor things might get complicated...;P

Nice setup btw!

That's a hell of a deal! Even if it doesn't do HDR, I can find a use for it. Wish me luck!

And thanks. It's a work in progress. I see other people on YouTube that make my man cave look like poop. Maybe some day...

I hope it works out! :)

I wanted to create "Sexy Riker" in Star Trek: Bridge Crew, but the character editor ain't good enough. :(

There are still a few bugs in Bridge crew in the ongoing missions apparently. We got stuck in warp for about 5 minutes and finally arrived minus the helmsman. Perhaps him quitting out fixed it. However next we got stuck again after an impulse transition, ship unresponsive, had to quit out.

With a new crew we took on episode 4 after getting some practice on ep 2 and 3, and managed to clear 4 on the second attempt. Very satisfying when working well together. Unfortunately time flies and my move batteries are already down to 1 bar after 2 nights. Episode 5 will have to wait.

Btw finally figured out how to get the options menu on ps4. Keep the ds4 in range as there is no options button on the move controllers. You need to press options on the ds4 to get the menu, doh!

Damn, I wanted to play a few Bridge Crew missions this weekend and boost my tutor abilities in Summer Lesson. Dirt Rally and Rez Infinite are also on the top of my pile of shame pool of choice.

Now my "Farpoint + Aim controller" bundle arrived early, which I expected next week. Too many games, too little time ;)

First impressions of the final version of the Aim controller (I played on a prototype last year) :

  • good weight (not too light), sturdy built, good weight distribution
  • all sticks + buttons good to reach
  • I love the position and shape of the symbol buttons: a quartered circle around one of the analog sticks
  • the digi-pad is a bit flimsy

Where were you able to get an Aim controller from?

I ordered the bundle last week from Amazon.es (Spain) for €83 (€78.50 + shipping to Germany).  But the price has gone up since then.

I haven't made time for Farpoint since Bridge crew came out. I've put over 8 hours into that already in 3 days. We managed to conquer episode 4 (allthough not with all objectives) however 3 attempts at episode 5 were unsuccessful. I'm glad it's not too easy as that's the last episode already. There are still objectives to complete on previous episodes, some more trophies to earn and ofcourse the ongoing missions to play. Hopefully I'll get put with a competent crew again tonight as I'm itching to try out some different tactics.

I tried it briefly in single player to check out a few things but you really need at least 2 people. Steering and targeting can't be done alone, at least not efficiently enough in the later episodes, where a dedicated engineer is very welcome too. Ofcourse a captain to call the next target and when to disenage to recharge is very helpful too, but can be missed and is a useful spare player for when someone loses connection.

Now how awesome would it be if you could beam over to enemy ships and use the aim controller to try to take control of the ship. Or get infiltrated and have to flush out the intruders. Plus I hope dlc will add the option to fight other crews. Bird of prey operated by 4 human players. Then add massive fleet battles :) Episode 5 already has you fighting with 3 allies against 4 Klingon ships or more (if you don't keep up). Would be great if those were all human controlled! This game has so much potential. I hope it is a success and gets lots of support.

Btw it all feels so real in VR, this would never be as fun without it. It should be possible to play without VR yet being on the bridge and actually using the controls on the display in front of you makes all the difference.

Yeah, "Elite Force" was one of my favorite Star Trek games. A Star Trek VR shooter against the Borg would be great.
