Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Xenoblade Chronicles 2 re-confirmed for this year by Nintendo

How many times will they have to confirm it's coming in 2017 for us to believe it? Personally, I won't believe it until I'm playing it...and even then it will be tough to believe.

I'd rather be playing Metroid Prime

Feels like it's getting made so quickly...

Here's hoping the end result won't feel like a rushed product.

We don't know how long it has been in development so far.

No one thinks this will make it in 2017

I do. If music has already been recorded, it means the game is in a very advanced stage of development.

How is that possible with XCX being a 2015 game, I don't know. They may had started development at the same time the worked on XCX. They may had external help from other developers. Maybe XC2 is not as big as the other two. Maybe Takahashi is a freaking wizard, who knows. But everything points out to a 2017 release. And that's what is going to happen, no doubt.

XCX is a holiday 2014 game though.(It release on Japan first).Assuming XC 2 releases on October/November, that would give the game 3 years to develop, which is more than enough time to make a game.

But it would be nice to get a better footage about the game

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Xenoblade Chronicles X came out in Japan on April 29,2015. So that is, almost day for day, two years ago. Monolith Soft isn't that big a studio, so I doubt the game has been in active production for more than roughly two years. Ambitious RPGs take a while to make. If it does indeed come out this year, it will have taken about two and a half year to make.

I'm not saying they can't make a good game in such a time, I'm just concerned that it may not be enough time for a really ambitious title that's on the scale of the first two games.

Monolith Soft has expanded multiple times since Xenoblade Chronicles released and os now two distinct studios.  Plus there has always been fluidity in Nintendo, with devs of various internal studios moving around and helping where needed.  Wouldn't be shocked if development of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 began quite some time before X released.

It'd be pretty dang sweet if it release this year as planned, and would be quite an excellent 1st year for the system. Hopefully they don't cut corners to reach the deadline.

I don't believe they would rush this release, why would they in a year with Zelda, MK and Mario 3D, maybe nintys studios are getting used to HD and maybe re using certain assets and engines etc
