Because it had the last handheld version of Mario Kart on it.

Its not the same game. I mean they didnt include Lego City for the 3DS in the WiiU/PS4/XB1/Switch comparison.

People compared Mario Kart 8 to Mario kart Wii. People compared Mario Kart 7 to Mario Kart DS. It's to show the the advancement of graphics from last gen (3DS) to next gen (Switch).

Well ok then I guess...

It will be a glorious day when Nintendo discovers what Anti-Aliasing is.

That was my biggest problem with Mario Kart 8's visuals, I'd take AA over the bump to 1080p any day.

Please no. Any trained eye can clearly see anti aliasing doesn't look natural and prefers the sight of a edge that is in fact rough in the game code, over a fake blur. The greatest developers like Nintendo and Platinum opt out of it.

Wow, unless you're talking about FXAA this is almost as bad as the people that say "The human eye can't see above 30fps!".

Also those developers don't "opt out" of AA because they think Jaggies are better, Platinum Games had two AA solutions in the Nier: Automata port for PC for instance. It's a question of power.

They just prioritize other visual elements, like the vast majority of developers. Decent AA is a rarity on any console.

Eh, I rather get a sharper image than a blurry one.

I honestly used to be unsure if AA was a visual improvement or not (as in whether it was more taxing or less taxing to put it on) as, depending on the game, sometimes it would look good and other times it would just look nasty.

I think it seems to look better in games with a lot of motion, so it might be decent for MK8; that said, the game looks gorgeous from what I've seen anyway. Thankfully, even the low end of graphics these days are exceedingly pleasing to the eye.

Its funny because you know Nintendo were the first companie to use AA with the N64.

Is 3-4 players still 30fps?

The colours look better on the Switch. Other than that, I don't see any notable differences.

I won't buy the game soon since I have the Wii U version + DLC, but I might buy it later if the Switch doesn't get MK9.

Right, so just watched it... against the Wii U, aside from the resolution increase, it's identical (Oh no the Wii U dipped down to 59fps... I never knew about that until today, and it's one of my most played Wii U games, lol), although the game has always looked great anyway so will hold up really well regardless.

Comparing it to Mario Kart 7 on 3DS was interesting, and definitely shows a HUGE jump in terms of handheld gaming...

When I eventually pick up a Switch I'll more than likely be picking this up too anyway, since I never bought the DLC for Mario Kart 8 in the first place, and I've not played it for ages now, lol.

I've seen it a number of times but I just have to say it, your avatar is adorable lol

I like Pixel Tiidus far more than I liked the character himself :D

It really caused an issue. I guess most people didn't notice it, maybe because of TV settings or are generally not sensitive to something like that. Nevertheless the 59 fps issue caused a duplicated frame which made the game seem to halt (stutter) every second. It bothered me, because once seen you can't unsee it.

Yes. Now in 1080p instead of 720p on TV.

Intel Core i7 8700K | 32 GB DDR 4 PC 3200 | ROG STRIX Z370-F Gaming | RTX 3090 FE| Crappy Monitor| HTC Vive Pro :3

Meh, the slight improvements are a given considering the hardware. Zelda isn't a night and day difference either compared to WiiU. I'm just glad I can take MK8 with me now. 1080p is still better than 720p on my TV too.

The cool highlight was handheld comparison (since Switch is both home and handheld console).

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)
