Destiny released with a metascore in the 70's. It was an unbalanced mess of a game much of the time.

Star Wars Battlefront also released with a metascore in the 70's. People want the original BFII not this other game.

Red Dead actually looks good.

So your list has one good game coming out this year that the Switch won't have. Meanwhile....

BoTW = One of the highest rated games of all time.

Splatoon 2 = sequel to shooter of the year.

Xenoblade 2 = sequel to one of the best RPGs ever made.

Super Mario Odyssey = sequel to the Mario franchise which has been blowing minds for decades with games like SMB3, SM64, and Galaxy.

Interesting that you already know the quality of Destiny 2 and Battlefront 2 because of the scores their predecessors got.

The scores do also not change that these games (especially Destiny) got a huge fanbase. People want these games even if they won't get great scores. And when people want these games, they need a platform they will be available for.

I really didn't like Destiny and found Battlefront in the state it was released unneeded but common, we all know these games will sell like crazy and are super important for many gamers.

I'm not saying that Switch needs these games to be successful, just that many gamers want them.  Saying something else is lying to yourself.

The low quality of Watch Dogs  seemed to have more influence on Watch Dogs 2 than on the first game.

A lot of people were disappointed with Destiny, so they may not want to buy another Destiny game unless it's really great.

DESTINY 2(Coming of what is considered the 2nd biggest franchise this gen)

STAR WARS BATTLE FRONT 2(Millions guaranteed as it launches near the movie)

RED DEAD REDEMPTION (the country GTA)

those three are likely going to sell well over 10 million units..... and will release on PS4/xbone/pc

no switch announcements...... does this bold well for its future? I think not....

I think you are missing the point....those games are still HUGE 3rd party games that the Switch will be missing......period. We know about all the great 1st party games it will be getting. We know Nintento systems live off of the 1st party games so bringing those up still changes nothing with the point the OP was seemingly making.

It will be interesting to see how many big third party games the Switch gets and how well they sell.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

Those titles like destiny and other triple A multiplats never matter in these threads but as soon as some of these are announced the port begging is off the charts.

But at this point why people still buy nintendo consoles expecting to get AAA multiplatform games? You buy them to play nintendo games , still great to play those smaller games and indie multiplatform games on portable mode, to me its the best way to play games like bomberman, shovel knight etc.

You're looking at the question wrong. The question is - will people pass on the Switch because they do not have AAA multiplatform games?

We can't possibly know that. I mean for all we know as great as the Switch has been selling, 85% of them also bought the WIi U. As unlikely as that may be, it could mean tat as fast as the Switch as selling now, there could be a sales cliff quickly approaching because that would mean it isn't really appealing to that broader audience.

Please note: I DO NOT THINK THIS IS HAPPENING, but the mere fact that they managed to sell more copies of BotW for Switch than they sold Switches has me all kinds of confused. Something there is not computing.

I can think of at least 4 off the top of my head that are bigger (GTA, COD, FIFA & Pokemon).

Anyways, don't really see it negatively affecting the Switch all that much. Ya know, especially since they are getting at least one of the huge franchises I just mentioned (FIFA), with Pokemon being a strong possibility this year too...

don't forget Mario Kart Zelda Halo 5 Uncharted 4 and hell i'd even argue Splatoon

They all sold less than Destiny though, except for Mario Kart.

Well, FIFA was the best-selling third party game last year, right? And that's coming to Switch. So maybe none of the blockbuster third party games are coming to Switch except for the block-busting-est of them.

Anyway few things amuse me more than the cycle of "Nintendo doesn't have the major multiplatform games therefore their console will fail" --> "third parties won't support Nintendo's successful consoles because multiplatform games don't sell well on Nintendo systems."

Like, you can't have both.

I would argue that Destiny 1 had more hype than Destiny 2 but on the retrospect there is more hype for Splatoon 2 compared to Splatoon. So we don't really know how big destiny is but SPlatoon sold that on a failing system while Destiny was a multiplatform and was overhyped for the first one

Destiny? Is this a joke?

I don't disagree with you. Splatoon sold incredibly well on such an unpopular console, and I think it can grow out to a much bigger franchise than Destiny ever will.
However, whether or not Splatoon is bigger than Destiny is very debatable. COD, GTA, FIFA and Pokémon are all objectively bigger than Destiny, but Splatoon and Uncharted aren't.
I just don't want this to turn into a pointless discussion about which franchise is bigger.

Yeah, I don't think people buy Nintendo platforms to play fucking Destiny 2. I don't think this is an issue. It will only become an issue if you have the situation the Wii U was in where it got like zero third party support AND pretty lackluster Nintendo support. I think you'll see a lot more support on Switch though as games that would have been 3DS titles are put on Switch instead or in addition to.
